I change my mind --- the battle wear is rediculous.

The lights on Shepard's armour always bugged me more than the unusual "armour" choices of my squadmates. I'm recruiting a team of scientists, assassins, and mercenaries - I like that their clothing choices are so eclectic. While I do wish some of them were more practical, I like the direction Bioware is going and I feel ME2 is a step forward over ME1 where everyone was dressed in the same generic armour (the names, colours, and stats might be different but they were all just variations on two or three armour models).

Casual Wear.

Just have them dressed in whatever they please on the ship, like Shepard's casual wear, but have them wear practical armor into battle.

Another game that's doing a similar thing is Deux Ex 3; Adam Jensen covers up his cyborg parts with stylish jackets and the such for "public " missions, but if you're expecting combat from the get go, he abandons it all and dons practical attire.

This would be the ideal. I just really hope we don't go back to something similar to the old ME1 inventory system for armour. I also hope everybody doesn't get covered up in heavy armour in ME3. For a character like Miranda, I'd just want something light, like an armoured jacket of some sort. Full armour should be left for the soldiers.

The armor is supposed to also protect somewhat from hostile pressure environments. They'd all be dead really quick, if not the game's coding.

Well, then Bioware could just take a step "backward" and have only soldiers wear heavy armor, like in ME1, and give classes like Miranda's light armor.

Well you gotta wonder if Jack ever gets cold (like on the Reaper ship) considering she is half naked and pretty thin. I can understand the outfits for the initial encounter/meet-n-greet but afterward, on missions...

Personally I would have liked a mix up where for example going to see Liara on Illium you go casual and if you suddenly have a firefight well you gotta deal with it sans armor. Of course that changes the combat dynamics and would force players to be a lot more cautious and use cover.

I agree with the popular sentiment that Miranda's high heels and skintight catsuit are very impractical for combat, but I'm just wondering why nobody ever seems to comment on Ashley's white/pink colour scheme on her armour. It doesn't make her armour less functional, but from a tactical perspective, it makes no sense, unless she's planning to fight on a planet composed entirely of bubblegum. I can't imagine a colour scheme like that would be a standard Alliance scheme and I doubt that degree of personal customization would be allowed by her superiors. Pink/white doesn't even really seem to suit Ashley's personality, since she's not a "girly" girl.

I have plenty of times but I wasn't too woried about it because I changed it as soon as the oppertunity presented it self, she looked like she painted her self up for an Easter perade with those colors.

Some of the Turian armor was just as bad for garrus too if you switched for certain brands.

Bioware just made one of their ultimatum fashion choices for the characters. It's nice for dialogue scenes, but it doesn't make any sense.

Eh. Jacob and Miranda are fine. They're basically wearing ME1 light armor. It's mostly Jack, Samara, and Thane that need to get a little more practical. Luckily, all Samara needs to do is zip up. No re-design necessary.

Light armor did not look like that on Kaiden or Liara.

Minus the heels and a slightly daring flash of skin at the top, and Miranda's outfit isn't that far from Liara. Just put a Titan light armour on Liara... they're similar.

Besides, Miranda clearly wears that kind of get up out of confidence. Quite a few characters comment on it throughout the game, so I'm not sure it can said to be interrupting the suspension of disbelief.

Besides, Miranda's catsuit looks a bit like that outfit the that female vampire commando wore in Blade 2 at the start... so I'll let it slide (off).

Ho ho ho

Sorry, but Liara never walked around with a permanent wedgie.  I think I would have noticedImage IPB

And exactly one person commented on her outfit that I can recall:  the Eclipse commander in her loyalty mission.

You forget, there was a fair amount of complaining about Ashley's "barbie" armor. Some did not like the pink, and felt it seemed to scream "this is a chick!" unnecessarily.

But after ME2 came out the new outfits rendered the old complaints totally void.

Yeah, I don't think Miranda, Samra, or Jack's costumes leave any doubt in anyone's mind that they are all in fact, female.

No doubt, most of the armors in ME 1 were ugly.  But ME 2 supposedly fixed that by allowing us to customize Shepard's armor.  Couldn't we have done that with armor for the squad too?

Biotics defy logic, thus Biotic users devy logic and don't have to wear any armor!

...Unless you're Shepard. Than you have to wear armor because you're Shepard even if you have Biotics. Or Kaiden... He had to wear armor as well. So did Liara... And Wrex...

Well, in ME2 Biotics+cloths devy the armor logic!

Unless you're an Eclipse merc, many of whom wore armor even if they were Vanguards.

It occurred to me some time ago that my dirty dozen look like comic book characters. Their rather flamboyant clothes fit well with whatever prodigious, out-of-this world skill they possess. And no matter how much someone may argue against me; if your damn "armor" is tight and thin enough to show the impression of your belly button, it's time for a shopping trip to a galactic military surplus store!

I really hope Bioware learns from this mistake.

Someone should make a poll.

I honestly don't know how so many hairless people can wear skin-tight outfits (asari, Jacob, etc.).

The market for baby powder must be insane in 2185.

Well, I always just took Samara's armour as just an Asari thing. They are said to be a lot more liberal with their sexuality than humans.

Me too. After all, Matriarch Benezia has her jumblies out in the breeze. It's just the way they are. Miranda uses her body to her advantage and Jack dresses to offend. I saw it as completely in character. The only issue I had was with Miranda gratuitous ass-shots.

I agree with OP.

Seems much more realistic when I bring squadmates that actually wear armor like Garrus, Grunt, Zaeed. Even light armor like Tali and Liara are really acceptable. "Clothes" just dont cut it for me in this game.

On another note, I really wish there were light pieces of armor for Shepard, I hate looking like a guy wearing football pads and bulky gear especially when Adept and Engineer.

It's spelled RIDICULOUS.

As for the armor, it would be nice but I won't rage if they don't do it.

Are the cloths that the squad wears a little bit of a stretch when it come to being practical? Yes. But if we are really going to go for realism than Tali would be taken out of a fight in two seconds because her suit got ripped and she'd now dying of a fever.

Now obviously that bit is brushed aside for gameplay reasons and so are the outfits.

Actually, they clear up the issue with Tali's suit and getting into battle several times. I'm too exhausted to drag up the links, but Tali herself and I think maybe some Codexes explain.

Or a Krogan. Their biotics usually were boss types, and thus wore that heavier looking armor...

Jacob, Jack, and Miranda look ridiculous with their "armor"

technically though, I think the others are fine and should be the exception to this rule. I just really don't see how Miranda and Jacob is so strong with their Cerberus tights and I don't see how Jack has survived all these years...

The others, their function makes sense. Legion, Garrus, Grunt, and Zaeed seems to have the right amount of armor for their jobs. Tali's armor has never really changed. Mordin's armor seems about right compared to salarian STG armor. Kasumi and Thane have light armor for what they do: Infiltration. Samara seems to have good to ok armor, if she had lasted so long.

I just have a bone to pick with Cerberus operatives I guess.

I think the idea or theory is that some shield is covering the body...

But yes i agree with the lots here, it is rather silly.
Especially when you take a walk in space with a crew who has nothing but cloth on.

Just as silly as the term "mercs" for a enm foe in ME2. I mean these guys have more armed forces then any race iv yet to see in the ME univers, maybe Shepard should have recruited them instead. ^^

I don't. In ME1 all the crew had the same boring armour.

ME2 could have given us unique armor that would still be practical. For example I'd love to see how Jack would customize a armored suit. I can see her putting all sorts of graffiti on it and maybe a shoulder spike.

Some of the characters don't really need their default clothing tweaked that much to have it work as armor. Samara just needs to ditch the heels and zip up her jacket. Miranda just needs to ditch the heels and zip up her shirt, as well as get an actual helmet, same with Jacob. Her skin-tight suit would actually be just fine for hazardous environments and would make sense.

Zaeed just needs an extra sleeve a full helmet. Kasumi needs a recon hood. Grunt needs sleeves and Mordin needs a helmet.
