Seems to help. Some hours gameplay without crashes.

So:
Compatibility mode Vista SP2 + your tweak seem to do the job :)

Good News.

I don't use Compatibility Mode at all. CoD, CoD:UO, SC, BG, BG2, Diablo, D2 all work. The only crashes I get at all playing DA:O is that dumb inventory bug, but since I've figured out what video settings work for me my crashes are very few and far between.

Isn't troubleshooting fun? /duck!

I'm yet try rerunning my game yet so dunno if my problems will persist with the changes in settings and such I've tried. Currently waiting on some new hardware I've been wanting for a while to upgrade my computer and such (mainly a new case and additional ram). Though I'll try the new stuff listed here first chance I get.

I did find out that when I recently reinstalled my anti-virus (cause wasn't working right) it reinstalled the Visual C++ x86 I had removed from my computer and replaced with a x64 version. Seems that my anti-virus needs the x86 version to work but that is the version that is mentioned way earlier in this thread as possibly being a problem (also is the version that having removed had left me with no crashes till this). so I think maybe that that replacing of the x86 version is what brought my crashes back though I'll test to find out.

Hi. Keep the x86 version but reinstall the x64 version again. I think maybe it confuses dragon age. Not to sure. The x86 will install again with certain programs. You must not remove the x86 version but reinstall the x64 one. If you don't have the x64 on a 64 bit OS Dragon Age runs very jerky. That is what happened to me. That's why I reinstalled it again. For some reason it made the game realize it must use that version instead. It then runs fine again. Weird.

well I think the crashing is now fixed with the Visual C++ thing we've talked about but instead of crashing I froze at the last point when I'm sure it would have crashed. So I did the thing previously mentioned with a linked thread to a fix regarding the crashes caused by Holy Smite and Mana Clash type effects. The fix given in that thread seems to have helped dunno yet if every thing is completely fixed though.

Hmmm well the crashing is most definitely over now it seems just having freezes in place of the crashing so must have done something to improve things if only slightly it seems heh.
