Before you sign this off as being silly, hear me out.

In DAO, we had Werewolves, and i personally think they were done very well. I was surprised they had them and i really enjoyed the whole Brecilian Forest section.

How about, in DA2, we have a Vampire? I am already aware that some of those zombie corpses in Redcliffe are vampires (in the Codex), but how about we have some Desire demon possesing something and it somehow becomes a vampire (Im sure Bioware can think up a much better, and more believable explanation, they did with the Werewolves). In the vampire lore, vampires have powerful mind control abilities. How about you come across some village that has been enthralled by a powerful vampire and so on.

Cool? (keep in mind, Bioware would execute it much better than i can explain).

I would really like to see this, i loved the werewolves.

Discuss.

EDIT: Just made a group about this.

We have vampires. They come in two basic varieties; ghouls and hunger abominations.

Neither is in anyway sexually appealing or enticing. And above all no ****ing sparkles.

What you're describing is a bloodmage with very strange tastes.

I think I remember a dev saying that vampires in the DA universe would just be people possessed by hunger demons and would act more like smart zombies than sophisticated vampires. Either way, it seemed like Bioware had put some serious thought into vampires being incorporated into DA lore.

They deserve to die, and I hope they burn in Hell!![/Dave Chappelle]

If it's done right and not in that Twilight vampires are nice sort of way, maybe something more akin to Supernatural, then yes.

Any monster from Supernatural would be cool. That show did a good job with them. Terrible story but the actual lore and universe was pretty cool.

Surely they can sparkle, as soon as they activate some ability the vfx engine will take care of it.

Gasp! I thought Supernatural had an awesome story. Season one was a bit meh, but the rest were awesome story wise I though. I'd love a Sam companion in DA2. :D

Ahem, anyway, as to vampires... I personally would pass on them. Unless they're exceedingly violent or like diseased humans and are actually weak, why bother with them? We have hunger abominations which are pretty much the same thing. They just don't look good. Really tired by all this 'Sexy vampire' nonsense. :/

But hey, to each their own. ^^

As i said, im aware of those vampires. I also said Bioware is capable of coming up for another way of creating a believable (and cool) vampire. And ive heard devs say that gameplay, story > lore. There not going to stop a potentially awesome vampire section just because a codex says a vampire is a hunger demon and acts like a zombie. They will think of a way.

if they handle vampires like Let The Right One In, in terms of brutality and innocence, then I wouldn't have a problem with them in Dragon Age.

If they have vampires anything at all like Bodhi and her coven I would like it. :)

I think I understand why OP is so interested in having a dracula style vampire in DA.

Because she IS one. She has to be if she'd prefer a broodmother to Tali. Come on, it's obvious!

Well sure, if the vampire that's introduced is something like Alucard from the Hellsing anime, I'd be all for it. But I think there's enough diversity in the existing lore that adding another race isn't all that important.

They already did, pretty much. The Baroness in Awakening is very much a slight spin on the typical vampire stories.

"Fereldan lore is full of instances where these creatures have plagued
the countryside: wolves possessed by rage demons and transformed into
humanoid monsters with incredible speed and strength, able to spread a
curse to those they bit that would drive them mad with unthinking fury.
When in this enraged state, a human host can likewise become possessed
and be transformed into a feral, wolf-like beast. Tales differ on these
werewolves of human origin, some claiming that their transformation into
a bestial form happens uncontrollably. Some claim the transformation is
irreversible. As is often the case with demonic tales, both versions
were most likely true at some point.

--From Codex Entry: Werewolf"

Werewolf, Dragon Age Wiki.

There you go, they came up for a valid reason for Werewolves. Perhaps a rage demon possesed a bat which in turn, bit a human and spread the vampire curse?

I see being a vampire more as an affliction than a race, could never understand those who thinks it as a race. Same goes with werewolves.

My favorite vamipres of all time are definatly the Warhammer Fantasy ones, the book Vampire Wars by Steven Saville is worth checking out. Seductive and beautiful but at the same time, mind-blowingly brutal and savage.

Warhammer fanboyism aside, I'd be interested in seeing a vampire in Dragon Age. The "smart zombie" idea doesn't sound very interesting to me... It makes me think of the Living Dead series. I'm sure there's a different way of pulling off a hunger abomination in a way other than vanilla vampire or smart zombie though.

What you're asking for sounds a lot like a blood mage.

By this logic, a demon can possess anything, a boar, or a sheep, or Mr. Wiggums and bite a human. Does this mean that we'll have Were, -boars, -sheep, -cats walking around?

Honestly, sometimes not re-implementing the same stereotypes every other story does can be refreshing. Yes, they can probably make up some reason to have more or less typical vampires in the setting but that seems more like a way to make the setting more bland, generic and "like everything else" than "potentially awesome".

I gotta say, the idea of were-boobies is awesome.

I mean, come on, how scary would that be?

I think that they'll look something like the vampires from HoMM3.
