I meant modern as in 'more recent than the 19th century'.

And my point remains, appealing to the fact that something exists in some version of vampire lore is meaningless because it can be used to justify almost any interpertation.

Yes, yes, whatever, there is still a basic vampire that sucks blood to sustain itself, and spreads the curse by biting others. This is what i want. How they do it, and what type, monstrous or memerising, is up too Bioware.

Well, there's already the werewolves in the brecilian forest .. they bite people and spread their curse.

I hope if there's a vampire his battlecry could be "Suck it!"

Suddenly the thought of Triple H playing a vampire in Blade:Trinity comes to mind.

What with HHH being a part of DX, their catchphrase being, "Suck it" and all.

When you think about it, its MIND BLOWING.

All this talk about sucking and blowing is rather entertaining.

Actually the reasons Qunari horns were taken out is the same reason playable elves have itty bitty elf ears instead of the real thing; they didn't want to retrofit every piece of headgear in the game to accomodate one character's unique head model. The Qunari were conceived as a horned race but that was taken out to suit the game's budget. Now it is added back in. So there were more considerations than "coolness" at play.

Again, it would have been mentioned in the codex or by Sten. Even more, Gaider would have said that Qunari had Horns, and that Sten didnt have them because of headgear.

And that headgear stuff is Bull**** anyway, they would have done it like KOTOR where wookies werent able to wear headgear and belts because it wouldnt fit. Thats completely plausible, Sten would only be able to Equip the hat he came with. They made a unique headgear for the Qunari. If it had Horns, that one unique headgear would have holes or something.

Sten doesn't come with a hat. The "qunari hat" you are talking about uses the same model as a plain leather helm. It's "unique" in name, not its model.  As for no mention of horns in the codex or the game, well, they took them out, it wouldn't make much sense to advertise a feature of the Qunari they didn't have the development time or budget to include. Now that they have some more money and the Qunari are playing a bigger role, they found a way to get horns back in and "retconned" it back into the lore as if it had always been there (which it had, really, until they took it out). Is this really that difficult to understand?

As for "they would have done it bla bla bla Wookies", well no they wouldn't have, because clearly they didn't, now, did they?

This is getting a bit circuitous and pointless to boot. You are right on one count; if Bioware feels like putting foppy Lestat vampires into Dragon Age, the lore will not stop them. However, given the number of vampire-like things in the lore already, as I said before, the lack of "proper" vampires seems quite deliberate. All I'm saying is, I wouldn't hold your breath.

Look i have no problem with Qunari having horns, i like it, but if Bioware can do that, then they can add vampires.

I agree

Horns do not exist in real life. They are make believe.

Therefor adding Horns is like adding Vampires.

I don't know where you would add them on a Qunari, but I don't think it would be impossible.

They can also add Dr Frank N. Furter and have him perform song and dance number, but it doesn't necessarily mean the game would become better with that addition.

... on second thought, that's actually more appealing than vampires. Posted Image

much more appealing. Fight your way thru horde after horde of darkspawn to arrive at a strange thaig ruled by one of those talking darkspawn in drag?

Why, that would be glorious!

Its not for me to decide, but the OP.

I am curious as well as I do not think I could fathom (six feet) such a creature

I also wonder how many.  Generally you have two horns per Qunari, that makes me wonder if you would have two vampires, or three, or seventeen.   This is Lovecraftian or at least John Water'sian

Since vampires are strangely unpopular, what about werebats?

Posted Image

They did werewolves, why not those?

Somehow it sounds vaguely like the age-old "how many devils can fit on the tip of a pin" dilemma.
