It'd have to be an unique character, because Vampires have been done to death as a species. Good Vampires, Evil Vampires...all vampire culture variations form all parts of the world (past, present, future, fantasy, sci-fi, steampunk)...and a list of superpowers that go beyond ridiculous. To give us something we haven't seen yet about a vampire would be extremely difficult.

Everything has been done to death in fantasy (or any other genre for that matter).

There's done to death and then there's done to death to the point where it hits the gag reflex and you're puking it back up because you just can't stomach any more. Havn't we hit that point with anything vampire? It's typical of big publishers/producers to just keep on shovelling whatever is the latest in-thing at the time. It'd be nice if we didn't see Bioware jumping on that bandwagon.

Doing that is kind of like walking into a decent restaurant and telling them they really need to jazz up their menu with a range of cheap cheeseburgers.  Posted Image

Try something different like in Bakjwi, make a vampire like that priest in that movie. It doesn't have to be like Lestat all the time, you know. Make it interesting if we're going to have vampires.

I never said i wanted Lestat.

Here klume calm down nobody thinks you're an idiot were just arguing that it's an overused subject that can be executed perfectly well by existing creatures in DA lore, you sparked a debate with a reasoned argument and that is never a bad thing.

I think every recent RPG I've played has had vampires in it. Oblivion had them, The Witcher had them, FO3 had...people who thought they were vampires.

Maybe some developer needs to pick up Troika's Vampire - The Masquerade license and do the subject properly. Considering the current trend I'm amazed nobody has done it yet.

EDIT: There has been a bit of a rumour of a Twilight mmo in the works, though. *groan* Posted Image

Havnt played Witcher yet.

Fallout 3's vampires were a twist on the usual type.

People say Bethesda has a fetish on vampires. Well, so do i, if you hadn't noticed yet........

Couple people said Avernus was a vampire like character. I thought he was more like Dr. Frankenstein. The thing with people objecting less to werewolves than vampires is because even in modern day media they're more monster and less Don Juan.

Yep. It was a good RPG 5-6 years ago. Still fairly decent by today's standards. Deffo worth checking out for vampire nuts as it has a great atmosphere.

I looked it up on GameFAQS just now, it looks pretty interesting. But on my list of RPGs to buy, its:

1.Fallout New Vegas, when it comes.

2. DA2. It would be No.1 if it came out first.

3. The Witcher, always wanted to get this, but havnt yet.

4. Alpha Protocol. Still skeptical from all those bad reviews, can anyone clarify on wether this game is good or not?

Getting off-topic on my own thread....

Five months away from the game's release date is a bit too late for them to be introducing any "new" content to DA2.

I wouldn't mind vampires in the game if they manage to add a dark-themed quest chain for them.

A couple things. Vampire: The Masquerade is actually part of World of Darkness. A White Wolf RPG.
Also there is a new game coming from CCP based in that setting but information has been scarce to be generous

http://en.wikipedia....ness#WoD_MMORPG

"A merger between Crowd Control Productions and White Wolf, Inc. was announced at the annual Eve Online fanfest in Reykjavík, Iceland, in November 2006. As part of the deal, it was announced that White Wolf would be adapting the Eve Online intellectual property into a RPG, and CCP explicitly stated "There will be a World of Darkness Online", referring to a MMORPG version of the game. According to news at the time, work had already begun on the WoD MMORPG and full time production was to commence within the year and launch in 4–5 years.
As of January 2008, full production of the WoD MMORPG was scheduled start March 2009 after the Eve Online expansion was finished according to CCP. Official confirmation that the game is currently in development surfaced in Aug 2009 on the official CCP web site.
The game will be based on Vampire: The Masquerade and "will have a focus on player politics and social interaction." It is scheduled to launch in 2012 at the earliest."

Vampire specialization:-

Hunter

The vampire's movement and attacking speed increases

Feast

Each attack regenerates the vampire's health

Fear

At the presence of the vampire, enemies cower in fear unless passing a mental resistance check

Glitter

The vampire's skin glitters in direct sunlight, blinding enemies causing them to miss their attacks

You are proposing that elves and vampires inhabit the same universe? Not just "yes", but "hell, yes!" ;)

Also: not to quibble, but there is a whole lot of vampire lore, novels, (etc) Out there. Why are so many folks caught up on Twilight? And do you REALLY believe that the devs would have the bad taste to include anything Twilight-like. I personally believe better of them than that lol. If Vampires were included it would be well done.

If you need proof of awesome modern Vampires read the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton. There are also great Vampire characters in the Dresden files series by Jim Butcher.

Vampires are everywhere lately, no thank you.
What would it give to the story anyway? A major feature bringing creatures or beings of not too original concept would tarnish the storyline.
