I'm not sure if you would need Dex for dual wielding or sword and boarding. The Magic stat replaces the Strength stat for everything on the AW and the big 2 handers use Strength as their primary hit requirement, so it works out well.
I still play primarily as a pure Mage though, and only shift into melee mode when I ****** off too many little guys. I've completely ignored Blood Mage because the combination literally makes the game too easy IMO.
I don't use heavy armor on my Mage at all. I use primarily magic resistance and avoidance gear with little or no fatigue penalty. Even with all my buffs active and Combat Magic on, I only reach about 80% fatigue and can cast for quite a while. I've put only about 10 extra points in Con, and the rest in Magic/Willpower exclusively. I resist 3/4 spells outright, and take only 20% damage from those that do hit me, and I rarely get hit in melee even by bosses with all the dodge/damage resistance gear I have on. Just because one CAN put on the heavy armor, doesn't mean it's a requirement.
Thankfully, a person can change their armor even when in combat in this game. So it's really easy to shift from pure caster mode to Full Plate warrior in no time if that's how you want to play. I just use specific pieces of gear found throughout the game to make a single set and don't swap anything more than my weapon out when I shift from spell flinging, to sword smashing.

Doh! I meant to say Combat Training, not Tactics. Many thanks for answer. Any use for Combat Training 3 - 4 vs other skill choices for the AW?Takrandro wrote...
the Tactics slot? not unless u go play alot on your companions, as for combat training, that one is always handy to have at least 2 ranks in it no matter your spec, since the 2nd rank give u a bonus to mana regen as well.
(I don't understand why Mages are started off with Herbalism, when it's run off Cun & Cun is the Rogue's jurisdiction. Go figure.)

AW don't need any Str. The Arcane Warrior spec allows you to transfer armament Str requirements to your Magic stat, ie 35 Str req armor would become equippable at 35 Magic, & 22 Str 1H weapon would become equippable at 22 Magic, etc.Steven The Son Of Lynx wrote...
Can arcane warriors wear heavy plate armor or massive armors? Should i put str for my arcane warrior?
So that means get your Magic high enough to wear heavy - massive armor & your mage can look like a tank too!

Yeah, you can totally ruin your mage with Plate armor.
That of course is why the majority of people also take blood mage so that they can use health to cast instead of mana.
I personally prefer to stick with light fatigue gear.. The heaviest item I have on my AW is Ancient Elven Gloves something like a 2% fatigue. I have a helm that has a little bit of fatigue as well, but not much. I think my total fatigue from gear is around 4%. I have about 60% resistances to everything WITHOUT shimmering shield or any buffs on. So with all my buffs on, I'm about 82% fatigue, and have nearly 3/4 of a mana bar. I do very well without the Plate. (Tanked the High Dragon on hard at Level 16 like this, actually solo'd half the fight cause everyone else died.)

2 Weapons i've heard of is the Spellweaver, (Look earlier in this thread for it's stats.) & Starfang. (Can be forged into multiple 1H or 2H options, though it requires WK to be available.)Lantador wrote...
Any of you have any suggestions on what the best gear is for an AW/BM build along the lines of what Arius and Colma have suggested on these forums? (the "solo nightmare tank" build) ?
Armor, depends on your build & strategy.
Hope I helped.

As for Solo NM, i suggest that u use the best stuff u can get your hands on, don't give a damn about fatigue, just get the heavyest armor u can get, and in set if possible, just make sure u got more then eneugh points in willpower and in cons if u are going to use BM(witch i suggest u do) and lots of pots ofc. get poisonmaking so u can use poisons on your weapons, u'll find more then eneugh of those lying around

i also can tell your build is basically a buff bot build that benefit the rogue the most with 2 major CC at your disposal.

Saw this allocation on another forum: Stats (in order): 10, 20, 20, 45, 14, 25. Any good for the build I'm going for?

Lotsa Magic, & pick from Will or Con depending on if goin Blood Mage or no Blood Mage. As an Arcane Warrior, Magic substitutes for Str, but i've never heard of it havin any effect on Dex, so Dex weapons aren't recommended. As an Arcane Warrior, having a high Magic acts on your Str weapon as if ya had a high Str. Don't forget to activate Combat Magic before ya start swingin as well.HotTabasco wrote...
How do you allocate your base stats for an AW? I'm only level 12, granted, so I haven't gotten all the nifty talents/spells/skills yet, but I miss my melee attacks all the time and higher dex doesn't seem to matter? Should I put it all in magic instead? I'm trying to build a melee AW that doesn't do any active casting (only buffs and debuffs).

Ignore Str on all Arcane Warrior builds, for avoiding needing any Str at all is one of the most important purposes of the Arcane Warrior way of melee combat.
Hope I helped.
