"Restoration" spells, scrolls or potions should counter it (not "Lesser Restoration" but all others).

Not sure but maybe a priest will automatically remove it, too, when you ask for healing, and there's an item property "Immunity: Level Drain" to prevent it but I'm no expert on the Official Campaign and can't tell you where to look for it. Amulets (of health?) and cloaks are your best bet, I guess.

Btw, the NWNWiki is generally a good source for this kind of information.

The Amulet of Health was my favorite when I first started. I couldn't play the OC without it.

Saving throws (fortitude?) might also help against that...

I can confirm that having a priest in one of the Tyr temples can cure level drain (and everything else at that).

Just use your stone of recall, get healed up and go back into action.

As a fighter you will have access to bows... so the easiest way is to depend on your typically mediocre Dex ability, drink a few Cat's Grace potions, stock up with a few stacks of acid arrows and kite them.  Pretty easy against shadows if you can stay hasted, even against vamps.  The shadow touch attack allows no saves and it is bugged so that they get a drain attack every hit.  Fortunately, they have low HPs and do little damage beyond the level/ability effect.

Against evil cleric/arcane casters, your Fort saves should save you most of the time.  A few gulps of Endurance never hurts either.

Otherwise, you'll be dependent on either immune items (as mentioned before) or a UMD dump class so you can use protective spell scrolls.

There is NO easy way for a meleer to deal with shadow types without reading lots of restorative scrolls during combat (very expensive and temporary).

Thanks everyone. I feel embarrassed to say this, but I keep forgetting about using the Stone of Recall to go to a temple.

Will keep my eye out for the The Amulet of Health also. Finally made it to Chapter 2. Without using any walk through, I'm probably missing a lot, but still enjoying the game.

Negative Energy Protection

Description: The target creature is rendered immune to all negative energy attacks, including supernatural ability damage and level drains

For the later levels:

Undeath’s Eternal Foe

Description: All allies in the area of effect will receive the following bonuses: immunity to negative energy damage, immunity to level/energy drain, immunity to ability score decreases, immunity to poisons, immunity to diseases and a +4 deflection bonus to AC.

Funny how everyone falls to items when the mighty cleric has the solution!

Just one more second of your time regarding the use of the walkthrough.

You probably know that already, but don't use it. Being lost, searching, eventually thinking for the lucky ones equiped with that unusual ability, is part of NWN. I played many OCs & community modules and not à single one of them needed to read it.

One thing I found very stunning in any modules' authors work: the quality of the journals they write. Stunning! And this is one of the hardest part of moduling.

They never let the player down.

And I thank them, again, for it.

That's being human to me. And proud of it.

Never do on the first playthrough of a game. I would reather come to places like this and get little hints that push me in the right direction.

The first game I ever played, Wizardry 7. Used a walk through, Ruined the entire game for me. It was like walking around following directions.
