After I heard that BioWare's stats of ME2 said Engineer is the least played class.  I beg to differ.  I like to rally every Engineer fan here.   My Engineer shepard was probably my best well made class since Soldier.  Who here agrees?

I like them more than the Adept.

But Vanguard and Soldier are my favorites.

No idea why it's the least played class...

You can't disagree with the facts. You might like the Engineer, even feel it's the best class, but it doesn't change the fact that it is the least played.

Anyway, yeah, I'm a fan of the Engineer, but after playing a Vanguard a little they might not be my favorite for long, lol.

I never found anything to be glaringly wrong with the engineer class, I just felt it to be a little more passive in terms of combat in comparison to classes such as the Adept. Combat Drone is certainly useful in bringing enemies out of cover but the appeal of it wears off when Legion and Tali share your ability.

I started an engineer in ME1 a few days ago; we are still doing Eden Prime but I am very impressed by his biotics abilities. I was left wondering if this is the easiest and most enjoyable class to play. I shall see.

Engineer was my least favorite in ME1 and it's in my top 2 now.

I played engineer for a bit and found it very effective. The combat Drone is excellent and can keep dangerous enemies off you (like scions). The Overload/Incinerate combo makes them deadly against anything other than barriers (so grab reave or warp ammo). However, while the Engineer was effective I found it to be the least fun class (which isn't saying much since every class is good fun).

Gotta love tech abilities.
Playing as an engineer for the first time, and it's awesome.
Admittedly, I still think sentinel is the best class.  Biotics AND tech combined!   :o

My main is an engineer. It's a much slower gamestyle than, say, Vanguard - which is my "main alt".

Then you have a engineer drone wars building!

This is fun as hell, so fun as the life hacking build.

I LOVE the Engineer, my first playthrougs ever in ME1 & ME2 was with them.
Also they are my main Shepard's "cannon" Paragon path (Sentinels are my renegade).

I ran my Insanity playthrough with an engineer, and that worked out just fine. Don't actually remember much from ME1, but in ME2 I always brought Thane or Miranda for their Warp against barriers. I prefer hybrid classes, though, but out of Adept, Engineer and Soldier, Engineer is easily my favorite.

The game applies a handicap to weapons in the hands of squadmates. For example, when Legion shoots the M-98 Widow, he deals 43% less damage than Shepard does. On the other hand, many powers when launched by Shepard take time to reach the target, while they are hit-scan when launched by squadmates. So it is more "efficient" for Shepard to be a gun-oriented class while leaving all the debuff powers to squadmates.

I love my engineers, I have two!

I never played the class in ME1, but I find in ME2, it and the infiltrator are my top two favorites.

@KenLyns: However, according to the wiki (never noticed this in-game myself), powers have shorter cool down for Shepard (e.g. 12s vs 6s for overload).

Personally, I prefer Vanguards or (if ME1-style biotics are in effect) Adepts

I recently managed to import an engineer to ME2. I've only just started playing but I'm rather enjoying it.

It's kind of cool to think of your Shepard as the clever guy/gal who uses smart tricks like hacking instead of just a big gun or biotic blast.

The attach of the three brave drones is hilarious. Yes I am easily amused.

My Sentinel Shep used to be my "canon shep", but I have to admit that my Engineer has been taking over. The ME2 engineer powers are just so much fun, and a lot of the text/storyline matches up so very well with the personality I made up for her.

I chose the offensive specialisation, so naturally the personality is "demolitions specialist who enjoys fire and explosions WAY too much" (She's a paragon and tries to avoid conflict where possible, but when fighting does break out she enjoys it a great deal more than strictly nessesary)

And then the game starts trotting out lines like:

"Things explode around you Sheppard." and

"I'm getting the %^&* out of here before you blow the place up or something, I know how you operate"

Also, Cerberus giving a known pyro access to the Incinerate skill matches up rather nicely to their "guaranteed to backfire spectacularly" projects record.

And the Earthborn Engineer getting a scholarship for poor kids as a tribute is very fitting indeed.

I like the engineer class. It's not my main, but one of my fave shepards is engineer and I think I"ll keep her that way come ME3. I play it a bit like the infiltrator (my preferred class), just with the helpful addition of the combat drones which gives tactical advantages. If I could mix the two classes and get the widow and the combat drone I think I would be in heaven.

I have an Engineer, and enjoy playing it, but I prefer the Soldier, Vanguard, and Sentinel, in that order.
