I don't care if Darkspawn have discolored skin, bad hair, and smell like rotting flesh. A genlock emissary is a dwarf mage and it's not right. Even the Qunari have magic! Damn the man!
The DA devs secretly hate d0rfs. I've been aware of this for some time. I've been watching. I've been waiting. The time of the D0rf Mage is near . . .
The next time I see some drunken Qunari casting a spell I am going to start a fight with a gigantic devil's food cake with the words "Here Is Your Cake, Sten!" written on top in icing.

D0rfs should be able to be a mage!

Dwarves should join the filthy Elves in the Alienages. Put Vaughn in charge.

You can get a dwarven mage referenced in the epilogue.
...Just sayin.

As Genlocks cease to have any facial hair, perhaps the cost for the Dwarves to cast spells is just too high....

The more beard you have, the less likely you are to have magical abilities.

That little wench from the quest in Orzammar better come back with something when she's done playing around in the Circle Tower.
<------- Refuses to shave goatee, it's too seksi.
I'd be happy with a gigantic 2h lightsaber that casts Electric Storm every five seconds. That's a fair compromise imho . . .
As for the Alienage, are you kidding? A d0rf would cause all the buildings to collapse just from walking down the street. Them elves don't know how to build stuff with stone and everything in the Alienage is built with rotting wood.

Well, dwarves now have a chantry, so they may get some Andraste worshiping dwarves that have children with magical talents. Not in DA2 though. No dwarves & elves as PC in DA2. I can't believe Bioware has turned Dragon Age franchise in to something as lame as Mass Effect with single PC Character, just for the sake of PC being fully voiced.

You can use the toolset to make a Mage that looks like a Dwarf (don't shapeshift or you'll run into serious issues).

Interesting. I'm not familiar with that mod.
Let's face it Dwarves are awesome in DAO. It's a pity that we won't be able to play a Dwarf PC in DA2 (hopefully some mod will fix this).

D0rfs are awesome no matter what game they're in. They're d0rfs. I like Gnomes, too. They make great sport for anything involving a ball.

Dwarves in DAO are cool, but I like Dwarves more in games where there isn't a viable romance option. For some reason I can never play anything but a human as a male character in this game because I enjoy the Morrigan and Leliana romances (both Human) and they seem like they would be awkward as a Dwarf. I won't even play an elf because BW decided to make them short for some reason.
I can play female elves and I have a Dalish elf running on the side with an Alistair romance, but as long as there are romance options available I can't play the game without them. I was the same way in Baldur's Gate 2.

To be honest, picking a race never give any big gameplay advantages in Dragon Age Origins.
Not like in oblivion where an elf get +100 mana.
So who cares?

Dwarves are so badass that they don't need none of that wussy magic.

Dwarves can't be mages but I think they are massively important in the world of Thedas.
