I can't seem to recruit Samara after completing the Lair of the Shadow Broker. I've gone to Liara's console on Illium, looked up Samara, and it just exits the console, went to Dara, and she's no help, I can't seem to recruit her, is this a bug, or a user malfunction?
Maybe you did this and maybe you didnt but here it is anyway...Perhaps next time, try talking to Liara FIRST about Thane and Samara's whereabouts instead of immediately giving her the SB data? That way, even if you do the mission, you should still be able to talk to the tracking officer. Then again, from the sound of it, you may have actually did it that way so my arguement may be completely moot lol.

"Player X can't recruit the Justicar after the Shadowbroker DLC is completed, therefore the problem is a missing Zero on line 2,537 of the game code."
If you cant, detail your steps and actions upon ariving on Illium. Chances are that you have done something in sequence that the programmers didn't foresee and has caused this glitch. If enough of you posted what you did then you may be able to see some common factor that will give them something to look for and subsequently, fix.

We all have the same problem. Didn't ask Liara about the Justicar prior to playing through the Lair of the Shadow Broker mission. After completing it, Liara's computer console is supposed to give you the same information on Samara that she would normally give you in person. But instead it gives you nothing upon selecting it. So either that button was coded to do the same thing as the exit button by mistake, or the information does not trigger the flag "Player has X information on Samara." So yea, it is a pretty simple fix for the people who should know where in the code to edit.008Zulu wrote...
If it were affecting everyone then the problem would be easy to fix, since its only a few then it is going to take some time. Its not like they say

It does. That circumvents the issue entirely. But the problem is that for anyone starting a new game, they aren't going to know to do that before starting the Shadow Broker mission. Not until they discover the problem, and come here to see that it is in fact a bug. By which time they probably won't have a save to revert to, prior to the mission being complete.008Zulu wrote...
Talk to Liara about Samara and Thane prior to starting the Shadowbroker missions, see if that makes a difference.
Which is exactly what happened to me. I recruited Thane, then went to do the Shadow Broker mission, then went to recruit a bunch of other characters, do a bunch of side-quests, and do a bunch of mineral farming on this playthrough before coming back to get Samara. So I'm deep into the game with no saves prior to going on the Shadow Broker mission. It's something that has to be fixed eventually...we paid money for this DLC to have extra content, not to bug standard content.

Yeah, felt kinda silly saying that. Its like they didnt assume that people would wait for this DLC before buying the game or are new to the franchise. To be honest, I almost fell in to this bug. I wanted to do the Lair before hiring Samara and thane, but my instincts stepped in and said "Not likely."

I imagine there will be a fix at some point. Like I said, there are a lot of issues with the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC other than just this one that are causing people grief. So when they deploy a patch to fix those issues, this will most likely be fixed with them. They aren't going to leave people who pay for extra content in the dark.008Zulu wrote...
I wouldnt count on a fix, best you can do is reload from an earlier save.

Since this is all about money and not satisfing there clients, the best way to make a point that they understand is to make sure they dont make more money.

I had no problem with the DLC beyond the recruitment bug. But I understand that some systems do have serious issues with compatibility that had no problem running Mass Effect 2 vanilla.Tessaeva wrote...
you have to do the two recruiting first ,so you wont have that problem, but it makes no matter, Shadow broker is so darn gliched that even if you can get in,it will crash and corrupt the rest of your game, to the point that you may have to delete saved game and lose all your progress,to be able to play the game again with no glich. This is what my brother and i had to do. I wont even dare install shadow again till they fix it, and out of protest ,i wont ever buy another thing to add on to this game till they do fix this.

BIOWARE FIX THIS IT SHOULD BE EASY.
Edit: There is even a way to access her terminal in her office after she leaves, which is what I think they had intended to use as a way to still start the assignment for Thane and Samara. When I click on info on Samara though, it just exits the computer screen. Wtf.
