Is this a possible class? I beat ME2 with a vanguard/sentinel and halfway through with an adept which is turning out to be a meh thing for me

So what's the build for a long rang sentinel? I don't even remember my original sentinel it was that bad.....Image IPB

I'm looking to focus on

* biotically taking down foes and then poppin' them with my mantis

I did try infiltrator......but I would loooove to have biotics + tech + sniper rifle=dream class Image IPB

That has to be the least appealing playstyle to me.

Why have suh awesome armour if you are going to hang back?

Ah well, its your game, play the way you want.

Thats kinda how I felt, and why I didnt really even want to reply

Adept+Energy drain+Sniper Rifle
OR
Engineer+Reave+Sniper Rifle

Both have all necessary protections covered then, and then you're also not wasting your bonus power, not to mention you have better crowd control abilities with both of those classes.

Tech Armor without playing some CQC is kinda worthless... unless you're playing on Insanity I suppose and even then I dont think its extra protection is better than the crowd control you gain with the other classes I suggested.

HOWEVER, lets pretend anyway and indulge your idea

class: Sentinel
3 Throw
6 Warp
10 Tech Armor (probably go +power damage version)
10 Overload  (area)
1 Cryo Blast
10 Defender
1-10 Neural Shock - Warp Ammo - Armor Piercing Ammo

You can change Overload/Warp to 10 based on who you prefer to bring more, but I prefer the 10 in Overload to get Area Overload vs 10 in Warp for heavy/unstable which doesnt have area of effect ability. Your choice though, but 6 warp still works just fine for warp bombs.

Bonus power really just depends on what you want I guess, I like Neural Shock or Warp Ammo as neither interfere too much with your current power selection/strategy, and I should mention I dont think Throw is particularly valuable if you're just gonna chill back all day, but the 3pts are necessary to get warp.

you can snipe with other classes, dont get why you want that with Sentinel. I would say keep the sentinel as a close combat class and that the adept class with energy drain bonus power is a better choice for you or the engineer/infiltrator class.

2 Throw
3 Warp
4 tech armor (power armor +15% power damage)
4 Overload (area or heavy  - up to you)
1 Cryo Blast
4 Defender (raider +15% power damage, guardian less cooldown - up to you to decide)
Bonus Power 4 (Stasis, Reave, Dominate, Energy Drain, Warp/AP Ammo - up to you)

You can drop your bonus to level3 if you want level 4 warp or drop your level4 tech armor, but imo thats the best thing you get as a Sentinel. It seems so you dont really want to use that, so then why play as Sentinel?
Just play with adept and then you have singularity instead of tech armor. Or play with Engineer, with your drone you can keep them distracted and you can keep them in distance while you snipe them.

Because that awesome armour means you can keep sniping? It's not like you only ever get shot when you're melee'ing enemies.

On a caster Sentinel I'd imagine the Sniper Rifle (particularly the Viper) would work really well.

Thw Viper SR is great with any class as long as you dont mind going into sniper zoom when casting from cover<_<

But that's the good thing about Sentinels; their Tech Armor limits the need for cover. I think Viper is pretty good for a Sentinel. Use Viper to strip defenses, once they're down move in (no need to worry, Tech Armor will knock everything down when it blows) and clean up.

You can limit the zooming while casting (1) minimal cover time (it's possible to stay behind a wall without the need to use cover (button), just stay out of enemy line of sight and you're safe) and/or (2) once behind cover - wait until you're going to cast (you're zoomed in immediately and you can start shooting right away; or zoom in and shoot before casting (it's easy to use powers through scope; only powers that need an arc to hit designated target can cause problems) - the zoom effect can be annoying at times, but it's managable.

works very well with viper, power armor or assault armor, and AP ammo as a bonus.
