i was thinking there was some <name></name> command to display the player characters name in conversation but so far i have not encountered it.

<FirstName/> works. <LastName/> and <DogName/> as well, IIRC. There's an early thread in the main toolset forum that has the full list, but it's not long. You should also be able to dig up the xls source for the GDA that defines them.

It would appear to be dialog_tokens.gda. The entries are FirstName, LastName, FullName, and DogName.

Beats me, I just went straight to the GDA. I rarely bother with the Excel files. I prefer to just convert the original GDA to an XLS and work from there.

The XLS is dialog_tags.xls in the 2DA > toolset folder.
There is a minor bug in the name processing. If you use the Set Name function on the player, these tags still display the old name until a saved game is loaded.
