To answer the question of how is BioWare going to make the characters interesting. The answer: By having the BioWare writing staff make the characters. The BioWare staff is as interesting and crazy as any of the characters in their games. Have you seen some of these dev posts? They could just model companions after the writers or developers.

And I'm not going to be the one to risk comparing him to ANY character in Origins or DA2.

I wonder who we'd get if the character were to be modeled on, say, Chris Priestly.

A combination of HK-47, Grimgnaw (maybe?), Black Whirlwind, and that dark evil force encountered in Jade Empire while a ghost in the Spirit Monk village. Just a guess. Maybe some Shale as well.

No thanks, I'll pass. I think I hate Carth more than any game charecter ever... except maybe the owl from LoZ.
You forgot Tingle.
And all the Carth hate actually makes me glad I haven't gotten around to KotoR yet.

They won't run out.
Also, I'm really surprised anyone could compare Carth and Alistair. I've played both, and they're nothing--I really mean nothing--alike. Actually, Alistair's original concept was more Carth-like and they deliberately moved away from that to avoid bad memories.

I'm not sure how many squadmates BioWare has come up with over the years, but I'm going to assume that the world is filled with more personalities than whatever number that is.

Sir, I've come across a lot of your posts to this day and I wouldn't be surprised if you said something like "I liked Hitler."Sylvius the Mad wrote...

Allow me to say I mean to express a honest observation and not insult or offend you in any way. I respect your opinion.

Honestly, the first time I read this, I thought he had said "I killed Carth"... didn't register that anyone would actually say "liked"... I didn't even notice until Ortaya commented.
Weird.

Please don't bring Carth up unless it has to do with NOT ever using anything remotely related to that character. The whiny paranoia was so bad it polluted Kaidan's rep and he was reasonably tolerable.
I dunno much like Carth, Alistair tends to come off pretty whiny at alot of points in the game. Kaidan as well now that I remember back. To be honest I've felt the quality of the writing when it comes to companions the last few titles hasn't been quite as interesting as it was with BG and BG2, imo anyway.

I started liking him, after awhile. I went sorta from wanting to hit him over the head with a blunt object to maybe being. . . pleasantly infuriated?
He grew on me. I don't think what Sylvius said is too weird.

Rose-coloured glasses, much? I assure you the followers in BG2 were just as whiny-- when you got to actually speak to them. Which was comparitvely little. Maybe that's better? Less chances to whine.
As for the OP, I'm sure we'll think of something.
