So this is pretty much my first playthrough of Baldur's gate, and while
it has been teeth-gnashingly frustrating sometimes I'm actually quite
enjoying it.
My question is:
Is it somehow possible to
reset your character (and your companions) so that you start from level
1, but keep all your experience so that you can level up again?
The problem is that I've made the elementary mistake of not maxing each characters HP as I've played through (lack of attention and/or laziness) and some of them are worryingly low...
Any help appreciated. :happy:

I dont think its possible to unlvl but what you want to change is just the hp to be the maximum it could be so its easily calculable and can be changed via shadowkeeper or with IESE(Infinity Engine Save Editor).
Here is a thread about the hp gained trough lvl so you can calculate your maximum but its only for bg2 so i have no clues if it applies to bg1 or if you are even using bgtutu or vanilla.
