The reason I don't like the GPS on the Vanguard is the firing delay. It's almost completely negligible. Almost. But it's there. Don't get me wrong. The gun is a monster and I can understand why other Vanguards choose it. I just prefer the Scimitar.
I do get caught by that sometimes. It doesn't happen that often for me, but i have noticed it. Though i also have notice that even charging the GPS for 1 second will boost the shot, not like the full 2 but still a bit of a boost.

SO is the Eviserator or the Claymore the Vanguard preferred weapon here?

Try them all out. The shotguns are incredibly well balanced for the most part so it's more about feel than anything else. They're all going to dispatch your standard mob in no time flat.

The GPS rarely ever does that (though it's practically guaranteed on the second shot if they survive it). Because of this, uncharged GPS is the worst shotgun at point blank (where Vanguard spends most of their time).
Not necessarily given Inferno/Cryo ammo isn't gong to proc on the protection anyway. GPS still procs plenty enough to still make u highly effective point blank. I know it makes guys do the fire dance point blank plenty fine in my experience.

In part one where you tried to charge the one Drone who has the shield up and instead you ended up under him, that same thing happened to me last night when I was playing. I think it may be a bug.

GPS is actually the worst possible choice for a Vanguard. That's because it has only 3 projectiles (and the second and third ones do lower damage than the first) instead of 8 pellets and it is extremely difficult to proc Inferno/Cryo on the enemy. Even if Inferno does proc (though you need lots of damage upgrades/modifiers to have the first 2 projectiles strip the whole shield/armor/barrier - totally not possible in the early game) it's not doing much health damage then.
Katana beats GPS by a mile for Vanguards.
Im sorry but that's just not true IMO. It has 3 projectiles that's going to do considerate damage as effectively as the 8 pellets, not charged. Charged its going to do even considerably more. I have never found it difficult to proc Inferno/Cryo on the enemy, in fact quite the contrary it procs very often in my experience.
GPS beats Katana in almost every way, especially for a Vanguards.
For my Vanguards i find the GPS to be fan-frigging-tastic. Not charged its a more powerful Katana, with better range, a slightly better fire rate, and no problem procing. Charged it does even more one shot damage than the claymore, leaving u with more powerful Katana to mop up the rest. Although early on it pores through its ammo, which can be frustrating, i find that gun to be an outstanding weapon in the hands of a Vanguard. There nothing quite like charging a charged shot right in an enemies face.
I personally haven't found the GPS to be very effective given an aggressive vanguard playstyle. The long delay between shots ended up screwing me over a lot, and the charged shot doesn't work so well if you spend a lot of time out of cover (y'know, like vangaurds usually do?

I personally use the evi more often than not, since its got really high damage at close range, is super effective against armor, and has pretty decent ammo. If not the evi, then definitely the scimitar for its high fire rate and high ammo. Next vanguard playthrough I'll be trying my hand at the claymore, though. We'll see how that goes...

I think he's talking about the initial delay, which is part of the reason I don't like it. When immediately coming out of charge the gps does NOT fire the instant you pull the trigger, the evi on the other hand does.
It doesn't? I know i'll get a delay if im a bit sluggish with my trigger finger given its charge feature, but other wise i don't get much of this delay.

I got this delay as well when using the GPS with charge, It didn't always happen but it was very common not really a game breaker but did make the GPS feel very awkward in the hands of my Vanguard so he went back to the Claymore:wub:

The "long" delay between shots ended up screwing u over a lot,. The GPS "delay" happens due to not releasing the trigger fast enough in my experince, if its "long" that means ur holding it too long, so its easily prevented given the user. The Evi's ROF seems like its going to cause the same problem IMO, that gun has one hell of a delay between shots. Also the charged shot only works out of cover, so to actually even charge and use the charged shot u have to spend time out of cover (y'know, like vangaurds usually do?
) .
The evi may have a hellish ROF, but personally I've found that the damage more than makes up for it. Usually it only takes one shot to take out most enemies, and at most 1 shot + melee. Its effective at killing that one loner really quickly, then getting to cover to wait for charge to come back.
Its really just personal preference, but there ya go. . .

That was some fast play on Haestrom. I rarely let Reeger fire because I can't ever seem to kill the purple geth thingy fast enough. Reeger always takes a plasma ball to the face

Ok, what is the secret to the platforms in the Collector ship? I've tried to charge from several positions and thus far, it never works for me.
People are going to tell you to get in front of cover and not behind it before you Charge. Even then, it's not guaranteed to work.
