Do not notice this issue... maybe I wasnt paying attentionAngelCypher wrote...
Quick question: has anyone else had trouble staggering enemies on Lair of the Shadowbroker? Especially against the Vesir the vanguard, but also being unable to stagger regular enemies with melees? Warp-bombs seem to work fine, but melees don't always work... Or maybe I'm just crazy...

I've never noticed LotSB specific issues.

They do seem a bit tougher then other mercs, like they recover faster from some CC / staggering effects, but it made combat all the more gratifying,
Vesir is just narly, I hope they have a ton of vanguards that fight like her in ME3, Liara's Deep Stasis was very helpful where she would fall down when it wore off and you can get in a bunch of free shots, especially with the mattock if you're using it. Singularity also helped.

I've had that same problem as well, especially on Zaeed's loyalty mission. Also, there are charge bugs when trying to charge the Colossus from cross-map on Haestrom (Yes, that's usually a bad idea, but so satisfying when you actually kill it mano y mano. And it actually didn't take that many tries on my first attempt.)
Also, has anyone else had problems with randomly respawning enemies in the final room on Zorya? I walk into the side rooms, trying to cut off spawns, but baddies still show up randomly and nearly kill me... help appreciated...
[strategy spoiler warning]
infinite respawn until you blast those two containers overhead when they start to move across the room, so kill some mercs then one of the tanks move and shoot flames. destroy it, kill some more mercs then the second starts to move and destroy that one. when you have maybe a merc or two left the YMIR activates and starts to move on your position the GPS does wonders to the shields and then strip the armor and boom waltz to the back door!
my first three to four runs I would bum rush the YMIR mech with a dead squad, hide is a side room near the back and whittle that thing down, once I finally listened to Zaeed to blast the tanks that battle was a breeze!
Edit: added warning

Playing on hardcore right now, and I can proudly say this is the first time I managed to complete the Collector Ship mission, platform and all, without dying once. I've also finally come around, the Claymore is boss. I epically fail at the reload trick though.
I had a nightmare using the reload trick at first aswell until i found out i could just keep the fire button held down & listen for the click of the round going in. Once you hear it tap melee & congrats you did the reload trick so much more simple then trying to time pressing fire & melee together.
I do believe I got it down now. The claymore is really satisfying. Hardcore mode is way too easy now. I haven't died a single time since getting it.

This was actually my first time doing LotSB as a Vanguard (I've done it as a Soldier, Adept, and Infiltrator so far and haven't felt like doing my other characters yet), and I felt like the Vasir fight especially was way easier, mainly because I could charge, shoot and warp right as she was charging and it would usually put me in a great place to cover and wait to charge again. Plus, it was my first time using an evolved stasis with Liara, and it almost felt like cheating.AngelCypher wrote...

As to the staggering, I did notice throughout my play through, not just in LotSB, that if an opponent is just coming out of a stagger but hasn't quite completed the animation (i.e: they're still leveling their gun or just finished shaking their head), a new stagger effect doesn't always work on them, which kinda makes sense since otherwise you would just be able to keep them staggered forever. But if you mean not staggering a new enemy, or an enemy that is shooting/using a power, then no, I didn't notice that.

Huh. Guess I was just imagining it. Vasir though is definitely impossible to stun though. She just keeps shooting, or charges away before you can do any significant damage... it was... aggravating. Especially since i've fallen in love with the charge+warpbomb combo.... kinda messed me up in that fight...

From what I remember hitting her with warp, singularity or charge doesn't seem to induce the stagger effect. Every now and then if you hit her during her charge wind up you can sometimes kick her out of it and she staggers then but in general she seems immune while she still has her armor or barrier up.
I can confirm that she does not stagger from singularity, but it keeps her from charging, so you can shoot her longer as she moves out of it.
Stasis did feel like cheating I've run soldier twice, the first time it was a slobberknocker, losing teammates and having to waste medigel. The Second I used Liara's lvl 2 singularity and Deep Stasis and it got way too easy.
The Rocket Drones did not stand a chance with stasis either
Edit: where's spellcheck when you need it...

Thanks to Bozorgmehr, I instakilled both scions on the platforms with my vanguard using stasis.
Is kinda tricky killing the 2nd one, because there's no easy line of sight and the window to do it is really small, but damn, is doable

I can keep making them, but they'd pretty much just be "vanguard doesn't need prior knowledge of maps or DLC to be good" vids as opposed to low level vanguard vids at that point. Let me know.

@sinosleep: personally, I really enjoyed the tutorials. Not only does it help with low-level vanguard play, but its really helped me polish my own vanguard playstyle, and this is my 4th playthrough as one. So please, keep doing them.

Nice work Jwalker; I did it with an Adept, you showed the Adept's little biotic brother
@ sinosleep; maybe limiting the tutorial to some of the more difficult fights not yet in your guide? I think all the important stuff Vanguards need to have and do in order to be successful are already covered. People who still don't understand the way of the Vanguard after watching your entire tutorial either haven't payed attention at all or are just to dumb to get it anyway (don't think 10 extra vids can help those poor folks)
Still, I wouldn't mind if you decide to complete the main plot; I completed 3 (or 4, not sure) Vanguard runs; watched dozens of VG vids and still I've learned a thing or two watching you play.

Lastpatriot posted in a thread asking about dominate focused engineers that he had recently finished his vanguard run.
Oh, that wasn't by intent actually. I was having problems with my saved games (don't ask...) and couldn't get my vanguard to load correctly. However... I fixed it! So, I'm almost to the point now of attacking the Collectors and have changed the difficulty from hardcore to insanity. The thing I learned about this class is that the largest learning curve is just the thought process of how to play a vanguard. Once you get used to thinking about charge, take cover point, etc, it gets somewhat easy.
Oh, and the Shadow Broker boss fights were pure joy as a vanguard!
@sinosleep,
What do you think about that dominate engineer? It looks to be rather fun running around as the master of manipulation.

I keep dieing to the second YMIR mech you face (the one in the long corridor with no maneuvering room). Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Arc projector (if you have the cerberus DLC) is huge on this mission since most of the enemies you'll be fighting have shields or barrier and tend to bunch together. In the gunship battle this is especially true when its typically wave defense by mercs and Lokis.
Edit: To use the mattock AR you will need to have AR as a bonus weapon. If it isn't then the viper or mantis will help if your sniper. If you went for the claymore... charging YMIR mechs on insanity is never really recommended.

When you first get to that area you can head straight to the area to the left of the hallway. There is a little cover there and you have to fight off about two or three mercs that rush you. Once you take care of that, you can go up to the wall and peek out and shoot the YMIR. It will not come after you - it stays at the edge of the wall ( in the corridor ), and can't hit you. Of course it takes a lot of ammo to bring down.
