What's up with the bug eyes, Bioware?

Jeepers creepers, where'd you get those peepers?

Well it's a terrible picture of poor Cass up there but yeesh, her eyes are uh, unnerving. I thought it might be intentional and she might just be all hopped up on lyrium or something (some people thought it might be her eye makeup?) but then I saw that cap of Bethany from the leaked gameplay footage thread and she had the bug eyes thing going on too. I hope this is something that's going to be fixed because it's pretty distracting.

I considered that it might just be due to the blurry screen grabs but if I recall correctly a few people who played the demo commented on the eye weirdness too.

A better pic of Cass, who appears to have retracted her eyeballs back into her skull:

So what's going on? A sudden catastrophic drop in Thedas' atmospheric pressure? Have Beth and Cass been licking drell in the Bioware Green Room or maybe found where those other deep mushrooms grow? You know, the "special" kind. It's really going to detract from the gravitas of your dialogue if we have sudden crazy-eye moments during serious dramatic scenes.

We put slightly wider eye expressions than normal into demo versions of all of our games knowing that grainy screenshots of them will eventually surface and, one day, a thread EXACTLY like this would be started.

And now that it has been started, we may execute Operative Order 21117: Prehensile Tango.

I hope, by all that is holy, that you people are ready.

Maker help us all.

But seriously, Mike, does that mean the googly eyes aren't actually a problem? I never got to play the demo, myself.

I sure don't think they're a problem. Cassandra spends a fair amount of time infuriated at Varric, so wider eyes seem a pretty reasonable expression to me.
