Tbh I have yet to be swayed either direction by the news coming out of this and other previews im still on my orginal.. "Oh Dear" reaction. I have seen nothing thats convinced em this is a disaster n the making but ive seen nothing that convinces me it will be the epic sequel id hoped for. And if one more moron says fight likea spartan i think ill scream. Sodding 300

I really do think that sales pitch of "think like a general, fight like a spartan (paraphrasing)" is cheesy as hell still. If someone tried to sell me a product with that phrase I think I would have to dunk my head in a bucket of ice water to start fresh before the rest of the presentation. It makes no sense in the context of DA's fantasy world and I don't care if it's a desperate marketing ploy to remind people of how "cool" someone thought the movie 300 was. Just lame...I wish they would stop using that. With my luck it will be plastered all over the back of DA 2's packaging.
Glad to see im not the only one getting more than a little fed up with that bloody line

This isn't REALLY DA2 related, I'd just like Gaming sites to not make up their own facts about the games they review. I see it in IGN, Kotaku, all these other starting sites. Just because you're not the L.A. Times does not mean that you don't have to be journalists.

Yes, obviously all that’s true, but it doesn’t change the fact that Dragon Age 2 still looks as brown and uninvitingly bleak as the inside of a public toilet.
Ironically, no sooner had we thought that the game looked a bit poo than Bioware’s David Silverman started talking about Dragon Age 2’s new unifying art style.
Not to bash the gentleman who wrote the article - they can have their points - but comparing Dragon Age 2 with a public toilet and poo was extremely distasteful.

Kotaku gets scoops, but they can't write. They're not even unified in their biases. It's like Fox News but with no one thing to agree to hate on.

and we are used to the grafic style and that it is no halo or crysis and this is ok imo still i hope they improve it a little some screens made me worried and some places in da:o were just horrible(for example Redcliff entry area
usefull comments about the story, companions and so on will only be given in reviews next year. no way to judge this right now
same for the fights. the only thing the community and magazines got to see were early fights and one of varrics "oh they were all so brave heros" moments. so no way to say how it plays in later levels and devellops
did this reviewer even play by himself? he only mentions a presentation...

More blood & gore the better & DA:O was defintely one of the
most Astonishing Scenery wise at High Graphic Settings on PC. Perhaps
Bioware should've made the romance scenes at least R rated in DA:O.
More blood and gore? Origins was already pushing it to comical limits why in God's name do we need more blood and gore? And no, Origins did not have one of the "most astonishing scenery". It was very bland, very dull, very lifeless.
And what the hell does the sex scene have to do anything with the article?
Very Bland & Very Dull indeed.
Sry to double post but I had to respond to this. All of those screenshots even with the last one having the added spell animation, still have a bland look to them. No matter the awesomeness of the architecture and design, the colors were still very pastel or just bland in general. My view is on the landscape and surrounding world, not just on the party members and the enemies.
So yes Very bland & Dull indeed.
So what medieval kingdom had bright & colourful scenery & architecture? Perhaps DA:O should've been set in Time Sqaure New York with all the colourful advertising?
This isn't set in a medieval kingdom. This is a fantasy kingdom in a fantasy world. Unless you are trying to say mages and darkspawn existed in the dark ages. Fantasy doesn't follow guidelines on how to look.
I play video games to get away from the dull "bland" colors of life.

i´m not worried about this article. it gives no new info and everything written we know already and we already got commends from the folk of bioware that the grafic site of the game is still in work and the most notable thinks will be done near the end of the development phase for da 2
But it uses words like toilet and poo! It's street! It relates to the children!

After a rare rainy day no less
I can't wait for the generation of engines that can make drab not look drab so to speak.
I mean if I go to a boring ****ing forest it still would have quite a bit of color in it.
Its almost like the benchmarks for graphics are water and grass

actually i wish games had more color in them, one of the reasons i'm liking the game enslaved it's because the environments are filled with color, lush vegetation, lots of shades of red, blue, green, you name it.

Does this mean the modding community has to fix the graphics as always?

I don't understand, what do they mean by brown? The landscape? Of course it's brown, they are in the Blightlands.
I think they're referring to the blandness of the color palette; they also seem to think the art style is not really any better or more individual than before. I mean obviously it's all to be taken with a grain of salt as they only saw the opening sequence, which I imagine is supposed to across as gritty. However either way, if the developer's choose to show off an area of the game they think will make a big first impression and the response is "meh," then that's never a good sign. On the other hand, I think the opinion of the majority of people at that same presentation seemed to be much more positive than this fellow, based on what I've read. But hey. Can't please 'em all.
Personally, i think it says a lot about their confidence in the game, that they don't feel the need to start their marketing with the visually most appealing parts (I guess/hope/think they have already said there wiil be areas that have different colors). I have seen marketing campaigns that first showed off the graphic highlights/gems of a game and everybody was in awe but that was it! No where to go from there! No surprise/improvement to be experienced!

I'd rather think like a Vault Dweller & fight like an Enclave Hell Trooper. All in bold.
