Modern Warfare 2 has broken all sales record for a game. The stats are in the link below.

So I think the media wasn't exaggerating when they described the release of this game as one of the biggest entertainment launches in history. And yes, that does include Movies and Music etc.

Cool. Too bad I'm not into FPS games though (unless they're real damn interesting, like Bioshock or Deus Ex.)

I thought of buying it, but the first MW was kinda short, so I'll have to wait for some reviews to distinguish whether I should buy MW2 or not. Considering new games here in Australia cost 90-110 AUD, I prefer something lengthy for my money. Like DA:O, :).

A lot of people pre-ordered it, and nearly all the PC gamers who pre-ordered it are regretting.

It's a success on advertisement and marketing, not a success on the game's quality.

I don't understand the appeal, really. I enjoyed CoD 4, but in the end, all you're doing from beginning to end is shooting people. That's fun, of course. But when it's the ENTIRE game...Well, I suppose that's modern gaming for you. I just hope Modern Warfare 2 has a good story, though I expect it to be mediocre. Bioware has certainly proven the importance of a great story with Dragon Age.

One thing I like about Modern Warfare story is that it's not about Aliens or fantasy, it's set in Modern times. I think what it does best is add a very cinematic quality to it's story and does it's set pieces well. But the story does fall flat in many places. Talking about shooting the entire time, you can say the same thing about many genres, RPG's included. I think the mass appeal is it's simplicity. But I am not buying this game however.

My opinion of MW2:

If I wanted to eat McDonalds I certainly wouldn't pay steakhouse prices.

It's still cheaper than any console game. :P
