Who was your favorite Enemy in JAde Empire? Why did you like them so much? Did you feel like they were truly worth the effort of destroying and do you feel like when you killed or defeated them it was satifying?

Dont have a clear favorite, though Smiling Hawk was pretty fun. It's a very immersive scene, very "cinematic". Plus he's tough enough, but not to the extreme of getting annoying/tiresome like with the emperor.

Oh and Hapless Han. lol aww poor him, he' so optimistic it's almost like he enjoys getting beaten up :D

Masked spirits without doubt - the annoying popups with homing attacks.

I was fond of the cannibals. Double crossing them was fun. Plus by that point my character was usually coming into her own and it was the first time I could pull truly vicious combos. The theme that plays when fighting them is also one of my favorites in the game. I hesitate to state they were worth the effort. Most were pushovers. It was just fun to smack them around. :P

The cannibals are definitely fun to smack around with a weapon. XD I get the most thrill out of beating Elephant Demons, however. It's fun to go into focus mode and just run circles around them as they swing slooooowly at you, then seeing/hearing them crash to the ground.

My fav enemy was Death's Hand, until I fought him. Then he seemed more like the Lame Hand. Still, it was cool to watch him fighting on your side and trashing imperial guards.

The Li brothers were also a tough nut to crack if you allowed them to take the iniatiative.

Strangler Jizu was very annoying at JM level: I just couldn't hit him hard enough or fast enough to kill him before he healed.

He can only heal if you let him have those henchghosts of his.

Didn't you guys feel like Jia was by far the most dangerous one? She's not as resilient as the ravager or Sun Li but she's ridiculously fast and her stabbings are like really painful. Death's Hand may hit harder but he's slow enough so you can spirit thief him. Jia's the only one who has real chances to kill you in 10 seconds if you fail to cover block (Thanks Seagloom! That's the word I was looking for. Damn poor English skills!) a couple times.

Grand Inquisitor Jia was by far the hardest opponent in my opinion. She would shred my life meter in seconds if I did not doge or block. She also used Tempest frequently for massive damage my character's Tempest could not dream to match. The worst part about her was that annoying shield that came up after smacking her a few times. If I was not careful, I would do enormous damage to myself. She is one of the few bosses you need to pay attention to in order to defeat.

Death's Hand is very easy to beat with a single sword style.

As for Jia, like any fight it's very easy with Storm Dragon or Paralyzing Palm. And if she manages to pull off a Tempest, Jade Golem annuls this move and obliterates her in seconds.

But yeah, beating her in a straight up fight is not too easy. Still, I think the fight against your three evil clones is harder. Sun Li is pretty hilarious to fight if you use Mirabelle. :)

See, I never used Storm Dragon. I always fight Jia the hard way. I did not find Paralyzing Palm too effective either, to be honest. She still turns on her damage shield, preventing mindless slapping around. That said, the three evil clones were tough. I found them less frustrating though because it was more of an endurance thing, whereas Jia needed careful timing for me to beat.

The only difficult thing about Jia is that shield she switches on at certain health thresholds. Because I tend to kill bosses super-fast using a combination of Focus Mode + Chi Mode + Weapon, I often nearly kill myself against her shield because I don't notice she's got it up. >.<

The fight against the 3 Clones is difficult, but also my favourite boss fight in the entire game. It's possibly the only boss fight where you can't kill them all in one manifestation of Jade Golem form.

This is what I call expertise on the subject :P

Back to the topic, what's the story with Jia? She's just one opponent, and she's not immune to paralyzing palm, hidden fist or storm dragon... But to be honest I prefer to finish her disguised in a red minister, and slap her ugly face until she hits the ground. It's especially funny when she wastes time using swords on me :))

One other thing: is it just me, or the last before last opponent is always the toughest? Consider the imperial arena, wasn't the imperial engagement tougher than the ravager? Or, if you take the game as a whole, the 4 bulls/elephants were tougher than Master Li. Why is that so?
This reminds me of the old days, when beating Gorro in Mortal Kombat was way tougher than beating the last guy (can't even remember his name).

Shang Tsung. He was more of a gimmick fighter with the shapeshifting. Goro was pure unadulterated power. :pinched:

I think it had to do with my playstyle. I usually chain styles together rather than stick to one and click attack repeatedly. Long before I finish one combo on Jia, her damage shield activates and messes me up. She is the one opponent I really have to watch. Also, I never used a transformation style longer than a fight or two for the novelty of it. Jade Golem is ridiculously overpowered. I get no satisfaction winning with it. My preference is usually mastering two martial styles, a weapon, either hidden fist or paralyzing palm and tempest or stone immortal. Stunning her with a support style rarely helps because she still kicks up the damage shield when dazed. Jia also hits like a Mack truck.

With the other bosses, clone and Sun Li included, I could win easily with a straightforward combo chain to knock their lights out. All I had to do was block or dodge when necessary, and if I screwed up, it was not too difficult to Spirit Thief myself some chi and then heal.

I loved the imperial engagement. It was a tough, but fun. :) I found defeating Kai Lan as the Black Whirlwind much trickier since he is no where near as talented as our character.

zaxares, I don't think you can use jade golem against Jia either. She uses a sword and you can't heal while in Golem form. You would be dead in 5 seconds.

abramburici, you can't use Red Minister to fight Jia. You get that style later in the game, I think it's in Dirge.

seagloom, what's that about two different martial styles? Hmm come to think of it, it would be cool chaining fast 1000 cuts attacks with a powerfull viper attack extra. It would make up for the relatively little damage 1000 cuts does.

I am definitely not imagining things. You can use it on her in JM mode.

Certain styles can be linked together if you swap styles in mid attack. The timing varies depending on which styles you are using. My personal favorite is A, A, A, White Demon followed by A, A, A, Legendary Strike for a six hit kick o' death combo. With Thousand Cuts you can only pull off the first two hits if you start off with it. I find it works a bit better as a finisher. Also, weapons can be incorporated into this. I find dual sabers and twin axes work best. Longsword is a bit slow. Magic styles also combo poorly. The main way to tell if you have a working combo is if your enemy absolutely cannot under any circumstances block it. For that reason certain moves combo poorly since they push an opponent too far back or whip out too slowly and provide a blocking window for the opponent.

With chi strike activated, I can usually kill a mook in seconds with my White Demon to Legendary Strike chain. Once I get a weapon style maxed I can link nine hits. Very few cannon fodder enemies can survive all that. The reason Jia is so annoying is because her damage shield fires regardless. After hours upon hours of pummeling everyone this way, I find it difficult restraining myself enough to avoid striking her shield.

Those are like the Jedi batteries of Malak in Kotor. Once he gets low on health he drains one of the ghosts to replenish himself.  It is a lot easier to take them down before going after Jizu.

Jade Empire has so many great adversaries, and countless epic battles. I really love the fight with Death's Hand as Sun Kin, it's a turning point for him, an opportunity. I love dodging the lightning and beating him up. I also enjoy the battle against clones of yourself. It's a tough one but it's really satisfying when you emerge victorious. And Cao Zeng. I have a tendency to love very minor characters. I love "The Slave Traders" and either accepting Cao Zeng's offer or ending his life. I could go on and on, but I'll leave it there...

For me, and I love almost all the villains, but I was in love with the antagonism and politics involved with Gang and Shang. You don't even need to kill Gang directly. But you know that both characters are slime, and not just because they're Lotus Assassins, but they scheme, slither in and out of the politics of the Lotus Assassins like snakes, plotting to kill each other without implicating themselves, and Gang showcasing his own cowardice and lack of ambition because he is willing to make the order, but does nothing to help plan or influence how things occur, hiding his own glee behind smooth words.

I so loved smashing him with a golem.

Yeps, agreed. I think it was the only part in the game where I actually died. It was quite frustrating at the time, but looking back at it, it was the most challenging fight by far.
