Chris, how about you just make it not suck? I appreciate your willingness to express yourself in lolcat, but it is difficult to wrap my mind around the idea that it takes two months to code up a little web tool to query the subscription database. Srsly.

This. When I was at University it took me less than a week to code up a similar web system in SQL for an assignment.
That's including the time it took to learn it lol.

Let's not forget that it took BioWare several months to finally start working on patch 1.04 and suddenly various upgraded patch notes were released on a daily base, each containing more and more fixes. So, yeah, BioWare seems to only start to work on things when they have nothing else to do (thus explaining why this here Social site is still buggy as hell, for example). And sadly, as with the patches, there is hardly any money made when working on some unimportant thing as a free give-away. Mr. Priestly has made it clear dozens of times in several topics that money is the one priority, not fan service, reputation or customer satisfaction.

A company is not only built on money (be it cash, licenses, patents or whatever) but also on ideal values. Among these are the potential of its employees, their creativity, and of course the reputation, too. BioWare has still the reputation of being the manufacturer of cRPGs. This reputation is taking hits when faulty products like Awakening and bug-ridden DLC are released, even DA:O was and still is buggy, as well as things like PR stunts going wrong (Bazaar, Staff of Parthalan, DA:Legends on Facebook and others) happen. So reputation is by no means a tool but a goal to reach, on par with money and other assets.
One measurement for reputation is customer satisfaction. Why, do you think, will they release the Signature Edition at no additional cost compared to the standard one? They say it's fan service, truth is: this is only marketing. The real reason is because even BioWare, with its impressive back catalog of classic games, cannot be sure anymore whether a game sells enough to cover the development costs and even garner a financial extra. Production costs are going through the roof, with titles hopping over the 100 mil mark. On the other hand, high reviews are even less an indicator for a success at the retailers than they were a few years back. So how do you know whether people will buy your product, even more so after that much criticism? Create an incentive for pre-orders. Or give away stuff like the Belt or this Staff. Pure business decisions, hidden behind smooth PR talk of "something special for our loyal fans". And if somebody here questions this, they always get the same answers here: "What is wrong about making money [insert random smiley]?", "Excuse us for trying to feed our families [insert random smiley]", and so on.
