How important is Bethany?

I would appreciate anyone (Bioware *cough *cough) to answer me.

I would rather just wait until I play it to find out. Game ain't out for 5 months at least, if they told us everything now, then there would be no real point in playing the game.
Well what is your opinion? I am not exactly asking for plot spoilers. I am just asking what you personally think!

I hope revenge for a fallen sister isn't a big part of the game. I had enough of that crap in Fable 2.
I know man seriously!!! At the beginning of the game I was like Ok..you know revenge has been a major part of many games so this is alright. But by the end of the game I was like ok I do not care anymore. She died...oh well watcha going to do?

I'm really hoping Bethany doesn't turn out to be revenge fodder. I like the idea of having a sister in-game.

Probably as important as any other companion. Morrigan was important to the plot in Origins, but you could completely ignore her and tell her to get lost if you wanted.
Hah! it might be hard to get rid of your sister with mom nagging.
Hawke: Beth what do you think your doing?
Beth: Going to kill darkspawn with you.
Hawke: No, its too dangerous go back to your room.
Beth: Ah! *storm off angrily* MOM! He won't let me go with him to kill darkspawn.
Mom: Let your sister go with you, don't make me come in there!
Hawke: *facepalms self*

I'd be fine with seeing her exhibit a role simaler to Imoen.

But then we'd have to stuff her into an asylum and let a crazy wizard experiment on her until she declares that his tortures are like a dagger in her brain! How cruel.

I was thinking more along the lines of just how important to the plot Imoen was, and the dynamic between her and the PC.
Though if Bethany is as annoying as my real sister.....

I suspect her importance depends on how you play the game. It is possible she could play a big role no matter what you choose, such as Morrigan and the Dark Ritual. She is obviously going to play a part of some kind but odds are you choose how big or small that part is.
It's possible that role may depend on whether or not Hawke him/herself is a mage.

As for another 'Mhairi'/Red-Shirt, well, that is a tricky one because, well, Bioware always seems to do it, so the question then falls down to who is it going to be this time seeing as there is also Carver and Aveline to consider who am guessing all crop up fairly early on to make up the initial 'team of 4'.
Part of me can't see her and/or Carver used as a major plot tool for Hawke to look to get revenge against the person who did it. Namely because there is the big question of who calls Hawke the 'Champion of Kirkwall'. For that question to be playing a key part in the story, I can't see there being a 'revenge' arc in it because whether Hawke is good or nasty, it sort of places Hawke on one side.
Perhaps Hawke being unscrupulous can lead to him/her having a rivalry with one or both of the siblings if they both survive past the opening stages.
One thing to also remember is that the game is taking place over 10 years so technically they could still do a bit of a Mhairi on one or both of them but have it much later in the story when Hawke has begun going down a certain path and a rival has caused the death of them. Yeah I know that sort of goes against what I said earlier, but am talking of Hawke's path being more diverted at this stage, thus it is possible to go the 'revenge' route at this point.

Bethany could be very important. Or she could be completely unimportant.Shadowfang12 wrote...
I know that Bethany is your sister but do you think that she will be a permanent party member? Or do you think that she will die early in the game thus making a big part of the game revenge?
