Eye of the World Persistent Neverwinter Nights 2 server:  Basic world script testing cycle in progress.

I'm not taking credit for creating most of the stuff in EoW, I'm the duct tape that made it all stick together if you will.

 To sum up what we have going on EoW PW, of the following is in alpha testing:
  • All the creatures available that are models or on vault in game.
  • All tile sets are in the 2da all we have to do is autoload the haks as needed.
  • 95+% of all placeables on the Vault with UTP/Erf for builders.
  • TKL Quest system working and online.  This is for persistent quests which the player can restart himself if something goes wrong like the creature ate you versus you eating the creature.
  • XP Craft system with all the SoZ and less appearances available, more once the armor Hak is done.
  • SLS2 for lighting controls.
  • MPWC spawn system with 100+ fixes for TMI which is always a work in progress but I'm finding them.
  • NWNX2 for Mysql database interfacing.
  • ROW persistent world stuff for the Mysql back end functions.
  • Forums at  http://bonzoli.com/drupal
  • DMFI working and online for DM using the tal2 special effect placeables.
  • Persistent Location Saving and bind system, some via ROW system some extra, no more long runs from base temple.
  • MSclimb system for challenging rope and rock climbing.
  • Angry creatures transition in various areas when you zone.  Makes for interesting areas.
  • Doors that open and close on both sides, so you can see if someone is coming in before they appear.
  • Mercator direction system from of the Maltese PW module.
  • Several useful scripts from sunjammers script packs.
  • Portal gate system using some moongate models for now, but as factions go online this will be updated as needed.  I'm still contemplating the party join option portal.
  • Personal Factions and Reputations are integrated into the mysql DB.  This is mostly tested but since I wrote a good chunk of it, there is probably room to improve it.   This means you can have good faction standing for a creature type but someone else in your same faction might not.  Such as goblins might not like you because you killed some of them or did quests that worked against their interests.  But someone else might do the opposite for various reasons.  So the goblins might trade and not attack him if he keeps peaceful.
  • Loot announcement system to help keep track of drops for your group.
  • PCtools which allows for all those cool emotes.  I personally like long loops of air guitar with some shades on.
  • Persistent Vault system interacting with the Mysql DB, this is a work in progress and borrows from ROWs Code.   Still being tested heavily.
  • Banking system that supplies interest on account so you wont have to lose Gold if you die.
  • NPC Boss system that allows the Boss and Captains to be on different spawn timers vs the yard trash creatures.
  • Area spawn Queuing via MPWC that allows Tracking to actually work for rangers and Druids and whoever else wants to know whats ahead.
  • Foraging for potions and natural cures.  This uses a foraging system off the vault that I liked so your survival and alchemy skills have a use now.
  • A nice long howto document for world building for EoW building to make getting started a lot easier.

 

   What we are still looking for:
A good crafting system.  I'm not big on crafting others live and die by it.  So I would like some input on this one, what I don't have is time for a complete custom rewrite on my part to make it happen.  But hopefully someone can point me at one that works well and is tested on other servers where we can make tweaks to it as needed.



Whats being worked on at the moment:
Kingdom management system where players run the faction and players also own the various hamlets around the kingdom if they can hold them.  The hamlets/fiefs then contribute back to the faction HQ various resources and in return get protection from bands of angry critters from the evil minions workshops of EoW.    The system will be driven via DB and hopefully will have a web interface to help manage resources and upgrades.
 
Faction HQ or kingdoms will have various upgrades for their army such as armor, weapons, magic, and leaders.    The resources will have to be controlled by the faction if they want to use them to build, and upkeep will have to be payed if you want miners/lumberers/armies.  

How do we resolve conflict, well I'm intending to use that very cool battle mod code on the vault.  How do you own a resource say a mine?  Well once you take it over via quest or conquest, the area will spawn faction creatures on your side vs the enemy or neutral groups.


The other thing I'm working on which will probably be in place before the kindom parts is a faction based capture the flag.  Where your faction/castle/area will have a relic of power thats linked to the main story line of the world. (I'm writing most of this back story now. )  Having other faction members relic would add to your power which would give you various bonuses such as exp bonus or army bonus for your members.  Having just yours and not others would give you nothing special,  Not having yours will probably have some weird annoying effect but would not hinder your ability to defend since it would be a double negative if you lost it.  

This will most definitely lead to Faction based PVP but it would not be much of an issue if you don't join one.   There will be NO exp loss at this time for PVP deaths.   You lose your time to get back to where you were but nothing else at this point.    I'm going to supply a way to keep from being disarmed at some point.  Probably via self cursing your item since there is 0 scripting ways to fix it otherwise that I know of.

Well thats the updates for now.   Lots of things planned and lots of things going.   Any help people want to throw towards this would be appreciated.  Testing is a really good way to help if nothing else, just be sure to log the bugs in the forums. 
  • DMs are needed if you have skills I have 1 person helping part time with this at the moment.  But there will be plenty of backstory that can be RP'd out if desired.
  • Dialog writing, quest writing even if you can't script, and item/creature descriptions would help.
  • Area design, creature design and scripting skills are always a plus if you want to help.   Please don't send me a bunch of stuff off the vault.  I've seen 100% of all areas at this point, many of the areas we have now are off the vault and many hours have gone into making them better for EoW.  If you want to help spruce up some areas let me know thats always a plus and we do have all the tilesets on the vault if you want to try doing indoor areas.
  • Bug fixing or identifying is really helpful,  knowing where the issue is can cut the time down to fix it by quite a bit.

There is a lot of room here for more side stories since the way I'm doing the back story its almost open ended what can end up in the world.   If you have something already put together or want to plan on something post a PM to me on the forums.  We can probably work something out.   I can't include the whole Moonsea or Waterdeep but there is no reason we can't add parts and pieces that work just as well.
