I like her works, though they are a bit fetish-y in some of them...

Have you ever been to the Menil Collection and Rothko Chapel in Houston? Definitely an artistic pilgrimage for a Rothko fan.

the worthless one, my sister can draw 5 of this style per day [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie]

I thought the same thing... until I did an art history course and I like his world. I'll envy the world if I could see them in real life. They are very huge paintings!

At least he's not bad as Barnett Newman. Just a line in the middle, wat?

Another artist i like who is contemporary is Chris Jordan:

His photography work on consumption are amazing. My favourite series is the Midway series (I've put the link up rather that images since the images can be disturbing at times, but the pictures are beautiful)

My favourite artist was that guy who did all the paintings. Remember him? With the hair?

There is a great variety of taste on here and some really amazing examples of art. I especially like the Wizard of Oz pieces on page 3. I don't really have a favorite artist who practices "fine art", but I really love illustrators and animators. My favorite artist in that particular field is Hayao Miyazaki, he is the man responsible for Princes Mononoke, Laputa, and Howl's Moving Castle.

I have always had tremendous respect for people who can manage to pull off street art.

I don't necessarily have a "Favorite" per se, but John William Waterhouse's work was always fascinating.

Considering he painted it in 1891, I think he used his imagination quite well.

van Gogh of course, and a local artist called Norman Catherine http://www.normancatherine.co.za/

But generally I prefer sculpture to paintings, so Rodin, Giacometti, etc. I spent half an hour looking at the kiss last December http://en.wikipedia....Rodin_sculpture)

As far as photography goes, Karen Doody  http://www.karendoody.com/index2.php  She's actually one of my top competitors in photography contests, but when it comes down to it, she blows me out of the water and I can respect that.  I keep telling myself if I had more time to devote to photography, I'd be a lot better.
My fiance likes Clyde Caldwell's art.  http://www.clydecald...es/gallery.html

Other than that, I have rather varied tastes in paintings.

Some years ago I was able to see the Casa Batlló from the inside. And the Sagrada Familia for free... :P

For my part, I will say Francisco de Goya y Lucientes.
