Mexican-born painter and printmaker, Enrique Chagoya, currently teaching at Stanford University in the US. His work focuses on the changing nature of culture (especially popular culture) and social commentary. I saw some of his work on display at the Met Museum in NYC and was instantly captivated. Here's a sample:
'Liberty Club in the Sky'

'Liberty' (I love the dinosaurs!)

'Russkies and Cubans out of Central America' (Not sure if that's the real title)

Chagoya also paid homage to Francisco Goya's masterpiece 'The Sleep of Reason'. Here's the original, though a little unclear:

And here's Chagoya's version (notice the ominous shadows of fighter jets):

Chagoya has also drawn darkly humorous caricatures of Teletubbies (though I couldn't find the former online). I love the guy.
