I just got Jade Empire Special Edition, and encountered a problem after installing it. At the start of the game, when you are supposed to go into Two Rivers to get your weapon from Gujin, the game exits out to the main menu when I click on the gate to go into town from the school. I then get a message saying that it failed to load the save game. I tried saving before going to town, only for it to do the same thing and delete my save file. What can I do to fix this?

Okay, after messing with it a bit, it turns out that it is not even saving the file in the first place. Part way through saving it just stops and returns me to the game. Any idea why it is doing this and how would I fix it?

Vista users used to experience problems saving and loading because of some permissions stuff. Same probably goes for W7. Have you checked what happens running the game as administrator? You should also try the compatibility "Windows XP SP3" mode.
