I'd prefer strict adherence to the Hays code.

This man speaks wisely.

Suggestive dancing of any kind is just... tacky.

Why keep dragging the Victoria era (pretend) morals into the 21st century? But it's twisted standard when it's permissible to have blood and gore violence, but nudity or the suggestion of sex should be limited. Unless of course, I missed the Chantry codex on nudity standards.

It's a Mature rated game.

You might want to read that link. It was ridiculous in the 1930's, let alone now.

Since LotSB came out I think Liara is the best romance atm...Samara left me with blue b@lls (well Shepard anyway.) I agree that America is out of control on censorship...at some point the parents will have to start taking responsibility...they will run out excuses to not have to be parents.

I"m confused then. In your original post, you want the Hays code; the Hays code forbids nudity. Did I misunderstand that? Or was your post sarcasm?

Somehow I think that's how Shepard would end up in any case.

Why do you folk even care at all? I mean, talking about video game characters underwear now? I mean c'mon! This forum is filled with so much romance crap already, time to go out and find a girlfriend or boyfriend because last time I checked Dragon Age was a dark-fantasy styled RPG.

I considered your advice about finding a girlfriend, but my wife doesn't seem to like the idea.

Yours is patronizing just for the sake of patronizing. I wonder why it bothers you when we folk talk about relatively lighter conversation topics. After all, everything we discuss here would be derived from an upcoming entertainment product. Nothing to take seriously, when you think about it.

I can't say I'm particularly interested in the topic, but it was rather immersion breaking. It made what should have been an emotional scene something of a comical one.

Would I argue for an increase in cgi nipples because my desperate need to see them can't be fulfilled with access to the internet and/or a willing member of the opposite sex? No, but I certainly would bring it up if a cartoon censorship monkey was floating over them during the romance scenes. Glued on undercrackers weren't quite that far, but I can see the case for questioning them.

Well, the devs did confirm better looking underwear in DA2. I guess since they also seem to pay the attention to it, they need to go out and find themselves girlfriends/boyfriends too.

I like how ME handled nudity, and was a bit disappointed that ME2 took the "safer" route.

As for Dragon Age...yeah...grandma panties need to go...and the sex scenes need to be more intimate and not cheesy.

I also like how ME handled nudity.  But DAO's overall presentation worked very well with a realistic nude mod installed.  Having nude corpses in Fort Drakon, or having Cailan crucified nude at Ostagar - that really added to the overall atmosphere.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if that is how DAO was initially planned, because it worked so well.  It's implausible that that could happen by accident.

I've always figured all of DA:O's nude scenes (be it a sex scene or other) were designed to be modded.

Not to mention if you install the version of the nude mod that gives nude males a perma-boner, finding Cailan's dessicated corpse to be so... lively... is by far the funniest moment in the game.

Should have stuck with the way they did the scenes in ME1.
Verry tastefuly done.

But then Fox scared them off.
Pathetic.

Pathetic indeed, I believe, as Americans like to think of themselves as the most free people...need the approval of a news publisher to have a M rated game include nudty....

yes the missionary position was very cheesy...a little doggy style wouldn't hurt (  not a confession)

I can't remember when the change came about...But the original concept art for desire demons was bare...up there. Pasties were added later on. I would also imagine people who romanced Morrigan were surprised, string to bra for romance scenes?

I also think ME did it very well but it seems like that will not happen again....bad press and all. bleh

What dark-fantasy equals no love?!  All that slipping on the entrails of your enemies, drenched head to toe from fountains of blood should at least lead to some steamy bath scenes or at least semi accidental breast gropage while trying to steady one's footing.

Anyway, paying attention to good foundation garments makes the outfit.

I don't care whether they have nudity or not so long as they write the scene accordingly. Really, bad underwear dry-humping is just...well...bad. As many have already said, it broke the moment. If they want to show the scene's leading up to sex and have the characters in (decent looking) underwear, I'm fine with that. If they want to show the sex suggestively but tastefully, I'm okay with that. I'm not okay with the weird awkward-looking hybrid the put together for DA:O. Yes, by the way, Mass Effect's was the best visual treatment of the subject so far.

This. What most of the "lol ur just desperit for sum action irl!!111" people seem to miss is that most of us aren't demanding to see more nudity. We just don't want the atmosphere of the scene utterly demolished by this ridiculousness. Some of us get into the story and the acting, and stuff like the granny undies just kills it.

Have the evil, scary nipples covered up by a strategically-placed arm or by a carefully-considered camera angle. It's not about seeing nudity, it's about NOT seeing such conspicuous self-censorship. If they can't or won't bring themselves to do that, then just do a fade-to-black.

I was glad to hear about the "better underwear," I guess, but the quality of the underwear was never the real problem. That's like, when someone complains about getting run over by a red truck, running them over with a green one and expecting them to thank you.

But like Mage One says, if they just want to show the "prelude," which includes the underwear in a logical manner, then fine. It never needs to get to the actual sex if the scene is irrelevant to the story (and contrary to some opinions I've actually heard voiced on this forum, sex scenes are not inherently irrelevant or gratuitous).
