After lumbering through these forums, I've read a few posts that really seem quite angry with the direction that Dragon Age 2 is taking. I'm curious, even if your excited for the game, is there anything that you're either worried about or don't want to see happen in the second installment. I personally, am worried about Hawke, I simply don't know much about him and I'm worried the scope of the story would be underwhelming compared to DA:O. But thats just me.

hmm well same here, its going to be supposedly released next year, which is for any game, a really short time to be suddenly annouced and going to be released. I can understand if they don't want to say much about the game if its in development for 2 to 4 years. But the fact we haven't see a demo, see what the new gameplay is like, mechanics, and the character itself. And its going to be released next year already. In march, less then a year a matter of fact from now. does worry me. For any game, that its release date would be a year away, there should be alot ofthings known about it already, its one of the things that makes people want to buy the game, see if its good, and if the creators are going in the right track. The fact they annouced a new game already, after the first, without any type of gameplay footage, story info for people to get hyped up about that characters, makes me fear that bioware or EA maybe exploiting the success of the first game, and fans, for people to assume the DA2 to be good, and be a instant hit. People thought the same for Spider-Man 3, thought I hope this isn't the same case here. DA2, I hope they had a decent amount of time to develop the game, though I predict DA2 is still in production as we speak, and isn't as longly develop as DAO. Which was Origins took years to develop, not a year. Still despite all this, I still think bioware is a great bunch of game makers, and they have always delivered so far. If theres anybody that can pull if a possibly rushed game, it be them. And I probably bet money on them, if I had to choose.

I wonder how they can do this XD, they're making alot of games at once last time I checked, Star Wars Old Republic, ME3, DA2, omg really big projects XD

I don't want to break immersion right at the climax of the game because my main companion/LI went buggy and decided to repeatedly complain that they are suddenly going to be the next ruler of Ferelden, instead of say, the woman we made queen at landsmeet. And then when said companion dies, have their death not be recognized by our companions, who instead tell me to party hard and enjoy my victory.

And if this happens, I'd like to see it recognized and fixed.

yeah kinda, but I wish the companions this time are more mature, and don't whine, and don't have a 4 years old notion of revenge....... cough cough, you know, the one who hates logain, and doesn't want to see the bigger threat coming, sure you can say it was his character not to change, but if I'm going to have a right hand man, he better not be, for )(*&*K sakes hes a grown man, I wish Arnold Swafadggar would step in and say "STOP WHINING ARGHAGHGHAHHHGG" XD, I can't say more, even though it would strengthen my argument, I don't want to spoil the original game for anyone.

Well one thing I just hope will not happen in DA2 is the RPG elements being toned down. I don't mind them adding all the new actiony and combat features as long as the RPG stuff remains the same, if not enhanced.

I don't want any half-done DLC or add-ons. I love my DLC and a good add on can make for a great experience, but the crap I put up with from DAO felt like nothing more than a waste of money. I'm also a little weary on adding the action style combat, only because I fear it may take away from the strategic RPG elements, but I kinda doubt it will since from what I understand you have the options to change it up.

I DO want my choices from DAO to be evident and impacting, so much potential lies in this, and it's the only reason I bothered buying Witch Hunt anyway.

I don't want a billion daggers. :P

I don't want to feel like I'm playing Mass Effect or God of War.

I don't want Hawke to have the option of killing Flemeth (Not properly anyway) - I feel like she is supposed to be an important character, and to kill her off without a huge epic battle and without The Warden and Morrigan would be disappointing.

I don't want my Warden and companions to be completely forgotten.

I don't want any of the classes to be reduced to the generic forced roles like every other RPG.

I don't want to feel like I must pick one personality and stick to it consistently.

I don't want Hawke to be the absolute center of the universe.

I don't want Hawke to die.

I don't want Hawke to be alone and loveless with no meaningful relationships, romantic or otherwise.

I don't want a simplified, obvious plot that gives me all the answers.

I don't want DA2 revolving solely around DAO just so certain people can clap their hands while playing and say "OMG! MY CHARACTER WAS MENTIONED! YAY!!!" It's the same world, but if I wanted the exact same characters and story, I'd just play DAO again.

I don't want my characters to shuffle and clip on each other with garbage pathing just because that is apparently what defines an RPG: unnatural robot movement and overly transparent metagame mechanics that ruin any sense of immersion because the limitations of the engine are so extreme.

I don't want to drown in useless junk loot that serves no purpose other than to vend.

I don't want Hawke ever to do something I wasn't expecting him to do. I don't want him to break character. I don't want him to act without my input.
BioWare's only other games with a voiced protagonist did this repeatedly throughout. I don't want to see any of that in DA2.

This too. Although I hope that the icon system will help.

Same here.  I love Mass Effect, but it felt like I was playing my version of someone else's charater, rather than my own character.  Of course, some of the devs have said that Hawke is less predetermined than Shepard, so I'm not immesly worried.

I also don't want Bethany to die or be fridged in some other manner.

Hm, the major turn-off for me would be learning that the game has a simplified black & white plotline - pick A if playing "good", pick B if playing "evil"; no thinking required. If I wanted that, I'd play Fable.

I don't want important details overlooked, such as having the blood mage spec and no one seems to notice or care that the hero of ferelden is a scary bloodmage...or returning dwarf prince but revert to standard convo like I hadnt ever fought in a proving when I won one in my origin.

I was also disappointed I couldn't marry my hot city elf fiance when in DAA you find Wardens can and do get married especially having two elf origins with no female elf to romance.

I don't want all the ambiguity of the world to disappear. And I don't want to fight one specific enemy.

Nelaros died in the female CE origin, but I believe the male's fiance walked out without a scratch. BioWare likes cutting our little fangirl hearts to pieces, y'see. Nelaros, Tamlen, Cullen/Jowan, Gorim, Leske, Gilmore. Sigh.

I don't want to Hawke to be a plumber. Or for Hawke to drive go-carts. Hawke interacting with barrel throwing gorillas is also unacceptable.

I don't want (more than I don't want anything else) the goddamn: do the intro and have story completely spoiled then collect 4 things then do final dungeon and boss story that Bioware love to use.

Well, if this is a story, to the equivalent of an Elminster or a Drizzt for Dragon Age, would you want him to be a blank slate? I mean, if this is truly a franchise setting, then you would want some groundwork for the setting to be laid, would you not?

I mean, its not like they HAVE to do it like this every-time, but I personally think that it would be nice if they laid out some of the staple people in the setting. And since this is a video-game setting I would think the best way to give a "Elminster" type story is to actually play as him.

I really don't want it to be ridiculously short. I was kinda disappointed with Awakening and how short it was. I understand that it will be rather rushed, since it's going to be released a year later, but still....

I like "loose ends" they add mystery and can always be addressed later. It's not like we've heard the last of Morrigan so I'm not sure why it's such a big deal to some people that everything be contained in one game.

As for things I don't want...

I don't want the equipment system to be changed to something like ME2. I want good old-fashioned loot with stats and min/max.

I don't want Hawke or his companions to become demigods halfway through the game, or ever actually. That's something that bugged me in Origins and even more in Awakening.

I don't want to hear "sodding" or "shem" ever again.

I don't want Sandal, Wade, or Teagan to show their faces in Kirkwall.
