yeah, i have done this a few times, i really don't count on it happening but when it does its fun as hell to see him wipe out about two guys before it wares off.Bozorgmehr wrote...

Yes, you can Dominate Harby. You have to hit a Collector at just the right time as Harby assumes direct control. It is very fun. I managed it once or twice myself and then Morinth pulled it off against the end boss. Harby started throwing his little orange warps and singularity's at Arnie. It was priceless
Let me get this straight, you have to use Dominate on the Collector who will become Harby just before the transformation?
bonus power and weapon for classes

why take barrier when you could take reave or slam, if you ever get your self in an oh **** moment just use medgel, its much better, because it heals you, gives you back your shields and has a 3 second cool down.AntiChri5 wrote...
Barrier is actually pretty good for a Vanguard. Whenever Charge fails and you are out in the open and relying on it with only the tiniest sliver of health left pause and cast Barrier. It activates instantly, making it a great "oh shit" power. You can even use it while Corner Vorcha has you stunlocked with his damn flamethrower.

You cannot Dominate Harbinger (Scions, Preatorians, or Husks), it only works on health (not armor) and Husks die no matter what power you use on them once they are down to health (abonations can be dominated though; good fun watching them do their kamikaze thing on their own pals ).
Uh.... why have you added my name to Bozorg's quote?

As Kronner says, the insta-cast makes it better than the other two shielding powers. It still doesn't really explain how you effectively deal with the huge cooldown. I mean, for a class that has Charge it begs the question what you're getting over Unity that's worth burning your bonus slot. I mean, you're giving up stuff like Stasis and Reave, here.
(When I first read that I actually thought you said 'Conrad Verner has you stunlocked with his damn flamethrower'.... I was like 'Wtf? When does that happen?'

It takes too long to get the upgrades which makes Unity restore shields/barriers and have enough uses to rely on. Almost all the difficulty is at the early stages of the game (i play NG+). Added to the cast time (since i rely on it for when Charge fails me i need a buff and i need it NOAW) it's better to use Barrier.

To throw off the mutant zombie ninja fairy assasin cyborg pirate vampires on your trail, of course!

I would cast it in two different situations: A little bit before a battle (long enough to be cooled down) or when Charge fails (the number one cause of death for my Vanguards) in which case its deal with it or die. I simply dont charge for a few seconds. Mattock, Locust, Carnifex, Arc Projector or simply run at them with the Eviscerator while using my squadmates to keep them distracted/staggered and relying on my massively buffed Barrier to keep me alive and/ or get me to cover.

You can have the upgrades to make Unity restore shields right after getting Mordin as you get one from his mission, one from the citadel & one from the doc so thats only three missions into the game not that long really;)
The only time Barrier is a better option then Medi-Gel is if your stunlocked so i dont think its worth wasting your only bonus power slot on it.

I delay going to the Citadel for a long while for story reasons.

And if you run out of medigel? When i choose Barrier it is for two specific purposes.
A) When i am relying on Charge to boost my barrier but it glitches out i need a lot of protection damn fast. Since i would be relying on the power for survival, i cannot afford to simply run out of it, as i could with Medigel.

Engineer - Mantis/Locust/Carnifex/Firestorm or the Blackstorm - Neural Shock (swapped for Energy Drain for synthetic missions).
Infiltrator - Widow/Locust/Carnifex/Blackstorm - Geth Shield Boost (the +damage version, of course!)
Sentinel - Mattock/Locust/Phalanx/Cain - Dominate.
Adept - Geth Pulse Shotgun/Locust/Phalanx/Arc Projector or the Particle Beam - Reave.
Soldier - Revenant/Viper/Geth Pulse Shotgun/Carnifex/Particle Beam - Warp Ammo. (Chosen primarily for roleplaying value. I like to imagine my Soldier as having a teeny bit of biotic ability. Not enough to manifest full biotic powers, but enough to grant him the Warp Ammo power. I may possibly swap this out for Fortification or Flashbang depending on the mission.)
