Would you have betrayed Liara if the choice had been her or the Shadow Broker's network?

Seriously, you want to know if I would trust this total moron whose "impenetrable" network was found by the likes of Cerberus? Let me repeat that: Cerberus found him. The Humans who just entered the galactic stage broke a secret that's been around since the Dark Ages.

He. Sucks.

I have a better proposition, she's standing right there, and she's good for the next thousand years or so. And the first thing she's doing is changing the locks on the door.

Liara was at first just looking to find out what happened. From the crew's point of view, Shepard just basically vanished. No body, nothing in orbit, nothing on the ground except some bits of armor and Shepard's tags... Then Cerberus commissioned her to get Shepard's body. So Liara was either going to recover his body and bury it, or hand it to Cerberus to see if they could revive/recover/resurrect him.

Liara's motives are known.

60 years.

Frankly rather than side with the Shadow Broker I'd prefer to give the ship over to Cerberus. Liara is nice and all, but she's not human.

Plenty of people gleefully stick it to Cerberus and fantasize about hurting TIM as much as possible.

Cerberus didnt do it for friendship. Also to order shepardt into a obvious trap(collector ship) did nothing to increase the trust.

Also lies(that liara works for the shadowbroker/dont know if this is somehow a mistake a writer made for whatever reason)

Liara is far from my favorite character, but I would never choose the Shadow Broker over her. It makes zero sense. You can trust Liara; you can't trust the Shadow Broker.

Just a reminder, but for those of you who don't like the topic to the point of making one word comments of your displeasure, you can simply not respond to the thread.

The Yahg has been in charge for 60 years; he took it over from someone else.  Barla Von implies that the network has been around for lifetimes.  Liara implies that the SB ship is very old.

Barla Von never says how long the Shadow Broker has been around. Everyone has always just assumed that he is ancient. I certainly did.

Tela Vasir is the one who finally puts his age in the "decades" range and then later we find out it has been around 60 years.

Don't get upset. Liara has a history of working for Cerberus... So it's not just "nice and all".

I can understand TIM's being cautious about Shepard, though (even after sparing the C-Base). He has a history of working for the alien Council.

Yeah, but I want somebody who is going to use all of that intel for humanity's benefit. Liara will try to be "fair". We need a human running that network.

TIM's Weekly Liasons

Monday: Liara

Tuesday: Liara

Wednesday: Liara

Thursday: Liara

Friday: Liara and Shiala

What can you say? Power is sexy.

Shiala was sexier when she was purple, not green.

This reminds me of the Collector Base and TIM... Yet shockingly enough there are people here, who gave TIM the Collector Base despite the Risks so that they can better fight the Reapers in their eyes, but they would rather save Liara than an even better chance on stopping the Reapers?

Whatever happened to do whatever was needed to stop the Reapers?

Most other renegades aren't as great as I am. I would pity them.

Hey, it almost sounds like a Human as the Shadow Broker would be "unfair"!

Liara will do just fine... For now.

I'd wouldn't want anyone else as the Shadow Broker. No one species should be dominant and Liara has more than proven that she's trustworthy.

The way I think of it is that she's utterly loyal to Shepard and will live for one thousand years. A younger lived species will die and create a crisis with galatic stability sooner. She also has more time to learn the ins and outs.

Precisely. In addition, she's already been working as an information broker for a couple of years and even had the Shadow Broker spooked. I'd say anyone who's that good with information deserves the job.

Of course, it's a mixed blessing. She'll probably never have a normal life again.

The Collecter base is techology - it isn't going to betray me. The people using it might, but that's something else entirely.

The Shadow Broker, on the other hand, is the son of a **** that tried to sell Shepard to the Collectors despite knowing what they were (and I wouldn't be surprised if he knew of a link to the Reapers - Cerberus figured it out, after all). Can't trust him any more than I could trust any of the other scum I've come across that try and sweet talk Shepard into letting them live.

Liara's proven herself loyal to Shepard and, if nothing else, is a known quantity. The most we know about the Shadow Broker is that we don't know anything about him.

I mean she might not be able to live 'happily ever after' with Shepard or anyone else. She wouldn't have time for love or children.

Bit of a kick in the nuts to Liara fans.

No, I would not have betrayed Liara. It has nothing to do with how I feel about Liara, either. The Shadow Broker already tried to weasel his way into the reapers' good graces and is willing to allow the invasion to happen as long as he survives.

He can't be trusted, so I CQC'd the crap out of him.

I will admit that I would have preferred the DLC have some moral dilemna, though, yes. Perhaps not the one you describe, Dean, but something would have been better than nothing.

Meh... I went in with the intention of destroying his network in the first place, I'm not gonna kill Liara to save somthing I wanted to destroy.

If given the option I would have crashed the Broker's ship and not let Liara get his network. She would have been more than pissed but there are to many risks with having it. (this coming from a person who let cerberus have the collector base.)
