We have the next iteration of the Community Contests up, folks and this time the focus is on scripting. So, close the rest of the editors and brush up your coding skills! The aim is to create a playable puzzle or mini-game. Don't worry about the setting or the lore - all you need is a working module to showcase your scripting skills.
Check out the details on the Community Contest Wiki Page and make sure you join the Community Contests group if you are planning to enter. The wiki page also has some links towards the bottom to some scripting resources and if you have any questions/doubts about anything, post in these forums and we'll help you out.
If you are wondering what's in it for you, check out the awesome prize list - Gift certs, DLC codes and help for your projects. Fire up that competitive spirit slumbering inside you...and go for the win!
Contest ends November 1st, Noon GMT.

Just a little over 2 weeks to go and there are only three potential contestants. C'mon folks, let's show more enthusiasm for this!

yeah!
(and i'm one of those three, right? :X )
how is everybody doing on their games? if we really need to, we can probably coax mikemike to extend the deadline....
so far, i think i will make it. it won't be the FULL minigame i had planned out, but the basics will be there. in fact, i'm thinking i'll start beta testing it this weekend. i have a project for it, if anybody wants to beta test. um... hopefully you can find it via my profile or something. i will no doubt make a more formal announce on the recruiting section of the forum when beta is up.

It might also be worth remembering that you don't have to do a mini-game - you can create a puzzle. You may find it easier (and more fun) to think up some elaborate way to open a locked door, remove an obstacle or disarm a trap!
A well executed, well documented and complete puzzle script will likely score more highly than a badly executed, poorly documented or incomplete mini-game.
My only additional advice would be to include some configuration option where possible so the puzzle can be reused with slightly different solutions. For example, if it is a classic lever-door puzzle make it flexible enough to handle different numbers of levers or if it is a equally classic put-the-right-item-in-the-right-container puzzle make it flexible enough to handle different items.
Good luck!

Hmmm... You are right. I have a simple puzzle that I am using in my mod. I'm gonna put it in a standalone module and sent it to the contest. It is not really worthwhile, but for this kind of contests I think that the more people the more fun

Could someone try to install my .dazip and tell my if it worked?
http://www.dragonage...ile.php?id=1860
It seems that it is not correctly created, but I can't find a way to test it in my computer (since my toolset project made it already available). I think now it should be ok, but a confirmation would be really appreciated

Hey Lobo,
In your dazip, delete the files that are going into packages/core/data and packages/core/env. Move the stuff under addins/TODD/module/env to addins/TODD/core/env and your dazip will work (just did that on my end and I can load the game fine)

Thanks to both of you!
Timelord, I followed your instructions...
Deleted the data and env folders from packages/core
Moved the addins/TODD/module/env to addins/TODD/core/env
The new .dazip is now online.

Bummer, I just noticed this thread today. ^^ Nice idea with the separate puzzle module, though. Worth considering outside of the contest as well.
