Wanting you dead is plenty of reason to feel the same. Her calling you a churl and saying that your 'betters' are talking really isn't.tool_bot wrote...

Well people have argued that her insulting you is enough to warrant her death, so I am not sure how useful it would be to convince them about a much larger and pertinent issue.
She's annoying, dismissive and oh yeah, wants to send me to the executioner's block.
Since when isn't that enough for wanting someone dead?

The last one is reason enough.
First two?

Actually, I don't think she DOES want to kill the PC. She doesn't do it in Howe's place - if you surrender or if she defeats you, she tosses you in prison, she doesn't kill you. If you surrender, she lets everyone except the wardens go - she doesn't lock them up or kill them.
When she confronts you before the Landsmeet, she doesn't attack, she tells you to leave. If you did (yes, I know the game doesn't let you) I don't think she'd have stabbed you in the back.
So I don't think she really does WANT to kill you. Obviously, she attacks you before the Landsmeet, but that's only when you don't leave, and she doesn't have much choice to do anything else.

They make the difference between wanting someone dead and simply resigning yourself to killing someone. For example, if you had to kill, let's go with Duncan (feel free to substitute whatever character you admire/respect, vs having to kill Bhelen.

I sorta agree but I'm a traitor to Ferelden. I'm going to be executed and she's going to send me there.

Except Bhelen is a character I admire and respect.
"Annoying" might give you reason to "want" someone dead, but it doesn't work that way for me.

Sure - and she does if you pass the persuade option (or so I hear, as I never have
But then, you can also choose to back away, and let Eamon win the Landsmeet on his own (I know, not a possible game choice, but then, neither is her backing off if you don't pass the check).
Basically, she serves Loghain, and unless you convince her to basically abandon that service, she's not going to back off, and shouldn't. She's going to continue to serve him, and that means protect him from you and your evidence/accusations.
Basically, again, she talks, rather than attack outright. If she really wanted to kill the PC, how easy would it be to kill them in Howe's palace, either during the fight or after you surrender? Yet she doesn't.

You are assuming that Loghain was the one who ordered her to do that (I think), and I've argued why this probably isn't the case a few pages back. There is a scheduled landsmeet, the Warden and Alistair are expected to be there. It's none of her business to try and not let you through.

She;s sending you to the chopping block regardless. You can't afford to lose and if she won't step aside she'll have to be disposed of.

In terms of her personality, I found her a bit irritating - but, in a strange way, it's refreshing to have someone who you can't persuade to love everything the Warden does or says.

No, I saw your post, and I agree - I don't think he ordered her to. I think she took things into her own hands, with her intent being to serve the man she swore to serve. She thinks for herself in that regard, and it IS one of the things I like about her - she's not just a blind minion, but she thinks. Now, I don't like WHAT she thinks, or the person on whose behalf she's doing the thinking, but I respect that she has initiative.

Oh, I agree completely, and it's why I kill her.
But I don't hate her, or even dislike her.

Yeah but she wouldn't be a symbol like Loghain is and she lacks Loghain's (supposed) genius.
Honestly as much as everyone might hate him, I'd take Jowan over both. Or Teagan.

Teagan would be a mistake, I think, given the importance of his bloodline for Ferelden (Eamon's mage child can't inherit). Jowan? Maybe. Very much a case of what might have been, given his once-upon-a-time party member status. But, overall, I'd rather a proven warrior than an undisciplined blood mage.

Yeah but that's gameplay mechanics. Sort of how Loghain goes from boss, to elite, to regular once the Landsmeet is done (if he's spared).

I don't know.
Some people have said that they kill Isolde just because she has an annoying voice, so....
I know I wanted to smack her after her "churl" comment and I can understand why her rudeness would not help matters in deciding whether to kill her or not, but still, I would never say that she HAS to die for that "churl" comment.

Isolde does have a really annoying voice, but that's not a good enough reason to kill her, I agree. And as far as Cauthrien goes, I admire her loyalty and her willingness to do whatever it takes for her cause. Isn't that pretty much what the Warden does? You can lie and insult people all across Ferelden and still wind up a national hero. This "Loghain's second better not call me names!" business is ridiculous. Really, the Warden has bigger things to worry about.Zjarcal wrote...

Yeah, but a lot of people on these board are very young, and that sort of attitude is common with kids. I teach at a primary school and all the time I hear "Miss, she called me names, waaah!" like it's the worst thing you can do to someone.

Nah It's a game. If people want to off her because she pisses them off, and they came home in a bad mood from work, or getting stuck on the freeway etc. It's all good. You somtimes need to enjoy those small pleasures. It's just another aspect of wish fulfillment in the game. Like all that romance stuff only darker.
