CCP's latest expansion will offer a character creation system with a suprising amount of control: Instead of just pulling levers, you can adjust and scuplt with the mouse. It's not quite perfected yet, but so far, it's awesome.

EVE online has been a bastion of hope for those of us who fear all gaming being turned into "mainstream, simplified, carebear-land". Very good game, I haven't played it in years, I'll have to check out the expansion.
