I never said " ZOMG BIOWARE IS TEH EVULZ"

Oh, ok, so this:

I think some people here are in denial that this game probably wont be as good as DAO.

... unless you like hack and slash jrpg's that is

Is just your way of "trying to take Brent's Blog as honest the way it was written"?

To that, sir, I say... horse-crap.

He's playin' with Jimi and the Big Bopper up in Rock and Roll Heaven.

Oh I thought he was on that one island everyone keeps mentioning with Elvis, Kurt Cobain and Michael Jackson.

Ahm... I can't see your point, OP. The devs said lots of time that the game wouldn't please everybody. The lead designer is not a exception. But still, is a shame when things like that happen. Well, there's no sense crying over every mistake, I'm sure everything will be alright.

@Yuki: Well no wonder he left then. How would he ever get DA2 done before the deadline with that kinda work ethic?

In the end it's a very simple thing. A person will decide to buy or not buy a game and will evaluate the quality of the game after the fact rather than before.

Once a game or game series reaches the point where the negatives out weigh the positives it will totally fall out of favor.

ME2 was quite different than ME1, it had some things that were better and some that were worse in my opinion but I still like the game alot. Since the strength of BioWare games for me is the story and the travelling companions once those aspects fail badly it will be a real problem.

Having said all that people certainly have the right to have doubts about EA;s influnece on a game company and a franchise. They have an earned reputation in that regard.

He may have left BioWare because of the Stone Prisoner DLC for all we know.

Yeah, the only reason he didn't get fired is because they couldn't bear to see a sad look on that widdle face :crying:

one thing is saying you don't like it because it doesn't suit your tastes, it's entirely another thing to say that basically the game sucks basing your argument in conjecture.

'Tis not a bad thing, the topic was leaning towards doom and gloom and "oh the game must suck because Bioware has evolved over the last 10 years" territory anyway.

He was also angry at BioWare's protrayal of cats looking the same. BioWare is cattist! :(

As someone who has been a managerial role, not gaming, sometimes there are multiple reasons going into quitting. I would be willing to bet that DA2's direction may have been an issue but not a driving force. Company directions change everyday for different reasons obviously EA is a big company with big goals, but it didn't stop him from working with them on DAO. Especially since everything is speculation.

That cat landed on the computer after someone on these forums said that it would be 'easy' to put something into the game at this point in time. Meow, crash!

All due respect to the guy, but maybe this is for the best for everyone. From what I see of DA2 it is going to have the same relationship to DAO that ME2 did to ME1. That's a damn good thing. If the dude didn't like that, no harm no foul, I hope to hell he goes out and finds his dream job. But me, I got seventy bucks that is already waiting for DA2. So. Gimmie story.

So if they completely gut DA2 and turn it into an "RPG Lite" you'd consider that a good thing? I wouldn't. My whole take on it, is DA2 is not the direction Brent would have taken the series and among other personal factors involved that aren't DA2 related at all I'm sure, are reasons he left.

One thing's for certain, this isn't the same Bioware most of us have grown to love over the past decade, and I'm personally not sure I really like the direction things are going. Between the idea of turning every project into some cinematic experience, removal of RP elements due to voiced PC's, a focus on DLC content post release (wonder how much of DAO's and ME2's DLC was actually cut from the main game just to be sold for extra later on). The list goes on and on. To be honest, if EA didn't already have a studio named EA Canada, its prolly more realistic to just start calling Bioware  EA Edmonton at this point.

I swear.

You are completely misinterpreting what she is saying. She's not saying Knowles is money hungry. Just that he may have left over a pay raise dispute or some such.

Wanting to get paid more/fairly =/= money hungry.

If you can't feed your family or yourself, if you can't make rent, find a new job that pays better.

Making it out to be "for the art" is just a ridiculous argument. Nobody takes a paying job for the love of art.

Uhhhh, you guys really are dilusional, sorry.

Where does it even hint that he left for money. You guys realise that you are completely making stuff up.

you have your fingers in your ears giong "la la la la I cant hear you, You left for the money?" to brent Knowles.

Thats what the BDF does, you get used to it after awhile. :innocent:
