Hello there. I'm really interested in the Cohorts of SoZ - I'm a massive fan of Baldur's Gate 2 and Dragon Age, after all - and I'd like to know if there's a way to see all of their lines of dialogue? I'm interested in getting to know as much about them as possible. I assume it is possible in the toolset, but tragically, I can't open it (I don't quite understand why - I click the icon, and Windows immediately says it's not working, tries to find a solution, fails, and then quits). Even if it did work, I'm not sure I'd be able to find the resources I'm looking for - assuming they exist.

So, would anyone be able to do this for me, if it's not too much trouble? I've looked around the internet for such things - sometimes gamefaq has dialogue guides - but to no avail. The corhorts have special lines that they can say during party conversations, but I'm also interested in the lines they say upon entering new areas.

Hopefully this is possible, and someone won't mind helping me out. Thanks in advance!

You wouldn't find what you're looking for in the toolset, anyway. Because it's not there. Each and every conversation or trigger - wherever it may be - has the possibility of Cohort-specific dialogue attached. You COULD go through them all in the toolset, I suppose...

... but wouldn't it be easier and funner just to play again and take different cohorts?

p.s.  This is the reason you can't find guides like that at gamefaqs, thievesguild, et al. - because the info is strung out all over the place.  I have no doubt those guides would be out there if it was at all doable.

You can see some of them by looking at their DLG (conversation) files in Program Files\\Atari\\Neverwinter Nights 2\\Campaigns\\Neverwinter Nights 2 Campaign_X2. Check the Toolset forum if you are unable to run the toolset.

Thanks for the speedy replies, chaps.

@ I_Raps: Ah, okay. It probably would be easier and more fun to play and take different cohorts (which I was planning on doing anyway), but I was hoping there was some resource that gave me all the info at once, right in front of me. Noting down each dialogue line as I play kind of takes away from the fun.

@ Kaldor Silverwind: That sounds brilliant. Cheers!

I was thinking of writing some fanfiction (don't throw anything), purely for my own entertainment, and I wondered if there was a resource which provided info on the characters, if you were wondering why I asked. I didn't want to write something that completely contradicted their characters. Again, thanks to both of you.

EDIT - Okay, so having the technical skills of a lobotomised carrot, I don't know what programme to use to open the dlg files. With infinity engine games, I always used to notepad or crimsom editor, but neither of those work. Hmm...

The conversations can be opened directly within the toolset. As Kaldor suggested, if you are having trouble getting the toolset to run correctly, go to the Toolset section of these forums and ask for help. Make sure to list your problem in detail (what does it do/not do when you try to start the toolset). Also include such info as your computer specs, game patch level, .NET version, etc.

The usual suspect is not having .NET 9.0c and instead having .NET 10 or 11. The toolset needs 9.0 and that version of .NET can be on the same computer as other versions of .NET. They are seperate and will not overwrite each other so you can have both versions at the same time.

Right idea, wrong accessory.  .NET only goes to 4.0 and 3.5.

You're thinking of DirectX 9.0c.

Hoogle Poogle, if you need that version of DirectX, you can install it directly from your NWN2 cd/dvd I believe.  It's on the SOZ disk sitting in my drive right now.

Ah, thank you. Downloaded DirextX 9.0c and the toolset is up and running. Now just to figure out how to open the files. Again, thank you for your continued patience. :)

EDIT - Never mind, have opened the files, though annoyingly, they don't include the lines the cohorts say upon entering into an area. Still a very useful resource, though. Cheers for all the guidance.

EDIT 2.0 - Except it does, and I'm an idiot. Sorry! <_<
