How does the "A Change in Leadership" quest start. I have finished all the other Blackstone quests, but nothing else has shown on the board.

You're not able to do all the blackstone irregular quests in one game. There's a fight over leadership, and you got involved. And it's resolved now.

Not sure I'm following what you mean. I haven't done the quest for A Change in Leadership as it never showed on the board. Ive done all the other quests for The Blackstone Irregulars, except for "A Change in Leadership", which is where the fight over leadership is..

Hmmmm, actually, yeh, I'm probably wrong about the blackstone irregulars -- was thinking about the bartender in the gnarled tavern.  You should have gotten that.  Did you pick up the quests in Lothering?  There's one that can only be completed if you start them there.

I've done every other quest listed for the Irregulars. Two of them started in Lothering, just that last one wont show. It is supposed to show in either Redcliff or Denerim. So I assumed there must be something that activates it, which I may or may not have done through the course of the game, or it's a bug. I've tried going from area to area, but nothing so far, and I can't think of anything that I've done in the game up to this point that may have any affect on Irregular quests. The wikia doesn't say anything either.

I didn't even know this quest existed and I did all the Blackstone irregular quests.

Did you get the conscript in Lothering? If you didn't you don't the quest. Also, if you don't accept the quest from the Denerim blackstone, a bug will occur that doesn't let you beat the quest.

Damnit. That would be it. I remember thinking that I must remember to get that guy before I leave Lothering. Still I forgot, and of course. At least I know why now. Cheers. :)

Don't worry pal, I was the same like you on my first playthrough. I didn't even find him before I left DX

I got the guy in Lothering, completed all of the quests, never got the Change of Leadership in Redcliffe or Denerim.

Heh, this is my 3rd play-through though, and I knew about that guy in Lothering, but simply forgot to go do it. :(

If you finished all the Blackstone quests, then you probably also did this one - it's the last Blackstone quest, where the progressive Taoran wants to oust his father Raelnor as leader of the Blackstones. You choose to either fight Raelnor in Denerim (outside Marjolaine's house) or you fight Taoran in a random encounter. This concludes the Blackstone Irregulars quest line.

Fascinating. I don't think I ever got this quest, even though I attempt to do every last thing I can when I can. I'll have to review my games and see if I simply forgot about it; perhaps I did something in some odd order.

That's what I'm saying though, I got all of the other Blackstone Irregulars quests, but never got Change of Leadership.

Unfortunately, the choice we have in the quest has no consequences. I wish we could have seen Black Stone Irregulars fighting with us and them being mentioned in the epilogue if you did that quest.

@ Reika. Weird, it should be available to you.

I just did the quest last night. It triggers fine -- but you have to finish all of other quests, including the two that can only be finished after you rescue the queen.

I've been sorely tempted to just do a clean reinstall of DA, I've had companion reactions that shouldn't have happened based off how I did things to not having quests trigger like they should like with this quest.

Killing Raelnor been the only way I've gotten the Commander's Plate set. You have to finish all of the quest including the ones in the Denerim Alienage. And a change in Leadership will open up in Denerim. Don't forget the dude in Lothering Chantry and the dude hiding out in Redcliffe village house (if you abandon village or battle at night he'll die without getting a chance to conscript him for irregs).

Almost everybody forgets to conscript the guy in Lothering before the Darkspawn wreck the village.

I did not make that mistake, but this topic comes up once a month and it's always the Lothering Conscript (Patter Gritch I think - in the chantry).

It is somewhat easy to overlook this quest, as one must return to look at the posting after you have cleared the remaining notices. I like it as it can be done post-Landsmeet; something else to do before ending the game.

But what if I didn't talk to the guy in Lothering at all (I never entered the tavern and just left)? Will the quest "Change in Leadership" still activate if I do all the others?
