I was just wondering if Insanity is a lot harder than hardcore difficulty in Me2. I played through the entire game of Me2 on normal, but then played the LotSB on Hardcore in order to get the acievment. I found that I had very little difficulty playing on Hardcore, as a matter of fact i found it more fun becuase I actually had to use stratagey. So I Was wondering is Insanity that much harder than hardcore? becuase If its not i might play my next play through of ME2 on insanity for the achievment.

Go for it, but be warned... I tried insanity on my second playthrough and have since played through 5 more times. Insanity truly makes the game shine.

Yeah, insanity can be easy after practice, but frustrating the first run-through

I think it depends on the type of player you are and how you function. I had no problem with insanity until the *spoiler removed* mission (the mission where you only have two main storyline missions left). I just can't get past it. It is very odd, because some parts are actually quite easy on insanity... and then there are a few key parts where you can tell the difficulty has been really ratcheted up.

I'm more of a casual gamer, though. So, that should tell you my frame of reference. I have the most fun when I'm playing on casual simply because I play ME for the story.

...and I made the mistake of playing insanity as a soldier. Being a soldier is fine for most people, but I am not used to it. I really hate adrenaline rush because I have a rough time gaging my health bar when it is on. Since I don't use it, one of my most important powers is sidelined... so I'm shooting myself in the foot, essentially. Bottomline, on your first runthrough, do it with a class with which you are most comfortable.

If I were you, I'd give it a try. If it isn't fun, just forget the achievement and tone down the difficulty. Best of luck! :D

Insanity is actually pretty easy with the exception of the double scion-mass husk ambush on Horizon, which is (appropriately) horrifying.

first insanity playthrough and i got killed at least 3 times at the end of the mordin recruitment mission, probably doesnt help that i picked Engineer (worst class IMO, but i wanted to be able to upgrade all the weapons easier and cheaper).

Took me a while to get the achievement myself because of something similiar to this. The difficulty I play on varies depending on my mood. For a challenge, I ramp it up. When I'm in the mood for story, I tone it down. Or if I feel like being a badass and playing with a level 30 character on easy. Clearing a room is certainly easy when compared to insanity.

That plus the Ambush on the Collector ship.

Insanity's pretty much perfect for me... easy, but enjoyable. You have very little legroom for making stupid decisions during combat, and can mow down most grunt troops, but semi-bosses (Krogan) and bosses are appropriately scaled to be difficult.

I hope that the final mission of ME3 is barely survivable, though.

The Horizon part with the dual scions is easy if you exploit the game.

Right as the doors open wide, send your squaddies behind you back where they came from. DO NOT WALK FORWARD, or it'll cause the husk spawns.

By stepping left, you can see the gun of the left Scion, and if you step right, you'll see the back of the right scion.

Then, just use abilities on the scions from there until they die. When they die, you can safely step forward and the husks don't spawn. You've just saved yourself one of the hardest fights in the game.

The harder part is the Collector Ambush. God, I hated that.

One trick for that is to bring the Blackstorm. If you fire it right as the platforms land, you can usually send 2-3 collectors flying off the edge, some times ending a platform fight before it really began.

I first did insanity as an adept, and I remember those two parts driving me insane. But when I played them as a sentinel, I had almost no trouble; I died almost twice, tops.

This means that either one playthrough on insanity makes any other runthrough a breeze because it makes you that good, or the sentinel is just a beast class. Since I have yet to do LotSB on that file, I can't say for sure.

My biggest complaint about Insanity in ME2 is that it almost forces you into a certain squad makeup to take down Barrier/Shields/Armor efficiently. I really like Thane, but all he's good for (in this sense) is Warp, but if you've already have Barriers covered, then sorry, Thane. Also, Miranda is pretty much a must have for most teams. Shields, Barriers, Armor, and she buffs your squad?

Although this system is infinitely better than "the enemies have more health and do more damage" (which is also included, mind you), I would much rather see a difficulty setting in which AI takes a larger role than pure stats. I legitimately miss being able to down an enemy with a Mozambique Drill method of gunplay, and emptying clips into guys just doesn't have the same flare.

Insanity is just un-fun, but very possible. You have to be really patient and a little ballsy every now-and-then. Go for it if you want the achievement, but just play hardcore if you to actually have a more fun

Miranda and Mordin make a good combo for soldier shepard. Miranda has warp and overload. Mordin has incinerate.

I love playing as a soldier with Grunt and Jacob/Miranda, tbh Insanity is not actually hard as a soldier with max points, i.e 2nd run through with heightened adrenaline rush + Squad incendiary ammo, its just piece of cake, harbinger dies in seconds, and praetorian dies in few mins at best wish i had a cam so i could actually record some of the more " hard " fights and you'll be supprised how easy it actually is as a soldier compared to any other class i've seen, which is very harsh for those that dont like gun slinging :(.

My only squadmates i use is "Samara + Grunt" when both loyal are like war hero's. (ofcourse you have to do first section of game before you can get samara and actually do their missions but they are awsome even when not loyal :).

I only play insanity, its the only entertaining difficulty from a gameplay standpoint. Enemies don't even last long enough on lower difficulties for you to pull off any of the cooler power combos, especially once you have alot of the squad upgrades. That said, your play experience in insanity depends heavily on not only picking squadmates with good synergy, but also picking the right weapons for them to use.

Currently loving my Adept playthru and really can find no better duo for her than Miranda/Jacob, although Thane/Garrus is a close second. Heavy abuse of warp combos, plenty of crowd control options, and squad ammo power... I almost feel bad for the mercs, mechs, and collectors flying everywhere but then I remember its so much fun!

I think the biggest discrepancy with Insanity is starting a new game, or doing new game+ with a higher level ME2 Shepard. If you do new game+ you wind up with high level enemies balanced for a high level Shepard with a bunch of upgrades, only you don't have any yet. This can make new game+ Insanity much more difficult than starting a completely new Shepard at level 1 on the highest difficulty setting, and it probably also accounts for the variance in opinion on how difficult ME2 Insanity is.

If I were soliciting opinions on the perceived difficulty of ME2 Insanity, I would also ask whether the player was doing a new game, or a new game+ with a re-imported high level ME2 Shepard.

Enemies seem to be much more accurate on Insanity than on lower difficulty levels.  Additionally, they use powers much more frequently.  I bet this isn't exactly what you mean, though.  It would be nice if the AI switched to put the pressure on you more often on harder difficulties by getting closer and flanking.

I played as Vangaurd and I only in the Two instances mentioned did I let them dictate my party. But Its good advice to have someone who get rid of Barriers and shields.

Insanity also gets easier the more you progress. Upgrades are absolutely vital.

Third time completing Insanity today, first time sentinel, second soldier, third sentinel again 'cause I just damn love the shiny armour. Kasumi's improved flashbang granade and Samara area reave worked so well against groups after you pew-pew all the armour/barriers/shields off.

Insanity makes the combat more filled out, I find. Not a massive step from Harcore, but enough to make a big fight more satisfying.

Well...Insanity was probably the hardest game mode of any game to play...for obvious reasons. There are so many facets to the game that causes for you to take an extra long time completing. It was really fun for an infiltrator...and really hard might I add. Haha. I felt so accomplished though when I finished. A good time indeed.

The easiest insanity class is in my opinion the Soldier. Second is probably infiltrator with the Widow. An infiltrator with dominate and AI hacking can pretty much solo the entire game.

Most fun in insanity for me would be infiltrator and adept. Adept with a shield/barrier removing team is fun.

The worst class. For me it was Vanguard only because I love to Charge no matter how many enemies theres around. I suppose its easier if you got the Geth Shotgun (sweet lil thing).

Completed insanity with all classes, except for Sentinel. Only because I find that class dull.

Have fun!
