One of my favorites of course is in my signature.* How about you?

I'm having a really hard time getting my allies to use their abilities, but not so often they run out of stamina/mana. I know there are "enemy health" and "self stamina/mana level" conditions to try to throttle them, but it doesn't seem very elegant.

But please, share anything on any topic that you like.

*For posterity's sake after I change my signature: Enemy: lowest health - Attack

Fireball :D It has, thus far, been the solution to all my mage's problems.

I like

Ally->Main->Surrounded by more than 2 monsters

Use Ability: (That AoE confusion one)

Ally->Main->HP <25%

Use: Heal

Alister->Surrounded by more than 3 targets

Use Ability->Force Field

Morrigan --> target enemy, cast blizzard, have her retreat to the rest of the party standing out of line of sight. Proceed to pummel everything that survives, especially fun against those dwarf ghosts in the Ordan Thaig

Lure enemies back to mages > cone of cold > shattered&nuke with everything.

Also send Alistair kick mage's ass in the same time.

Btw, that fireball technique also interesting to use too X3

the only tactic i use is for morrigan to leech life when under 50% hp. :) All the others i dont use... i just cant stand how AI wasting energy/mana sometimes :P i could always have done that better :P.

So maybe to sum up:

- spacebar is my favorite tactic xD

Have my main character, a tank, lots of health, Wade's dragon plate armor, anti frost and ice assc.s and templar.

Have him run into a room, aggro everything, wait 2.5 sec to make sure of aggro, have Wynne cast Earthquake to keep every one there, Then have Morrigan cast((in this order)) Blizzard, Tempest, Inferno, at my tank. Wait. Cone of cold any enemies that run out of the hellstorm at casters.

I like useing my mages Ice based attacks to hit and freeze guys there paths. I kind of liked that oil slick thing but it seemed problematic.
I also liked that dual sword strike for my Dalish elf warrior where I can hit 5 guys in one hit which is a good way to start major fights. Flurry is nice too in order to drop big guys or bosses.
Most of the time I like ordering Aliter to attack enemy Highest health to cause problems with mages n stuff.

My rogue likes dirty fighting followed by a quick run around to attack the back.

I set most my tactics to "Enemy: target of Alister -->"

Alister is my tank. I make sure he targets the right target, and everyone else follows suit. I control all AoE manually to minimize FF, and most of my cc

You know, I beat this would be amazing if I roled a mage with Alister tanking, and with two other mages, all three of the mages casting all three of the AOE damage spells at once....got, to try this one day.

So set a tactic to only use certain abilities when over 75% or 90% mana.  Problem solved.

Hold Morrigan back. Watch my party's health bars. Heal when one takes damage. Pick an enemy and freeze him. Heal my most damaged party member. Repeat until no more bad guys. I came up with this when I started to struggle against large numbers of enemies.

I'm just focus firing on everything with "attack target of controlled player" and "use ability on target of controlled player". Then again I'm on my first playthrough and doing it on "nightmare" (learned a long time ago that Bioware's idea of difficult is much different from mine!) so there may be better tactics. Working well enough for me so far, though. No deaths. Haven't even had to do much healing with pots yet either. I haven't tried easire settings at all, but if this is like Bioware's other games (and it seems like it is) I'm guessing it doesn't much matter what you do on <= Normal. You're going to win. Bioware seems to think their players like easy mode... and they may be right.

easy and cheap:

set up other 3 far from tank, have alistair pull mob, and like 10000000x people have mentioned here, alistair:taunt>PC:force field-Alistair>Morrigan:Tempest (hoping to make SotC soon)

not-so cheap, and doesn't work so often (but when it does, its awesomely satisfying) --> winter's grasp>critical backstab
