Poor ManSheps. One girl has a lumpy bucktooth face. Another has a pretty face, but hooker makeup and no hair. The last girl seems to have no face at all.
I actually lolled.
But basically, skin textures seem to have a wee bit too much "shine" or "reflection" to them, making them appear slightly plasticized.
Just compare Miranda and Yvonne's pictures: They are definitely similar, but on Yvonne's picture, you can see a fine skin-texture, which reflects the light very different from how Miranda's skin reflects the light.
I wouldn´t know if it would be technically possible, but including a very light, fine-grained bumpmap to Miranda's skintexture might be all that's required to get a "perfect match" between the two. But even if such a thing were possible, it'd might require a re-build of the game-engine, which would basically mean: not gonna happen.
For the regular GFX critics: I noticed how none of you EVER used the in-game "movie-grain" feature. Though I found ME1's movie-grain feature a bit better than ME2's, it's still a pretty neat feature, which I hope will return as an option in ME3 again. And it definitely helps make these "unnatural" appearances look natural.
Just saying, extreme detail levels aren't everything either.
