why does the chair model seem to give off light of its own?

dark, moody, back corner of the inn...... where the chairs glow with radioactivity, apparently.

this is placed in the area editor, it's a single room with one ambient light and one point light. All the rest of the area is 'normally' lit, with only the chairs looking this way.

edit: LEVEL EDITOR. not AREA.

well such "assets" that never move should be put into the level editor because most of the light atmopshere gets baked on the models/texture there.

Yeah, only put interactive stuff into the Area editor. If you play DA you'll notice things that stand out from the environment are usually useable because the lighting on them isn't as good.

yeah, had a slip up there.

I meant to say level editor. These were all placed in the level editor, with the same lighting applied to them as the tables they're right next to.

these chairs, and the 'dresser' model all seem to ignore lighting..

Edit: Forget about glow maps (was a stretch anyway)... what about the "lightmap" property on the model instance?

Did you insert them from the Models palette instead of Placeables etc?

I did.. do I need to use the placables menu? I'm in the middle of a lightmap render, but will try that after. it just seems odd that everything else looks normal, except for the chairs.

My understanding would be you'd want the models menu, since placeables don't get the baked lighting. So I don't know what'd be wrong there. I edited my original post... there's a lightmap property, but if that's set...

Anyway, it'd be good to know myself if that assumption's wrong. Maybe it is: the wiki says it affects "designer placeables", but I recall a post somewhere from a dev (maybe not in the toolset forum) mentioning how things like interactive chests didn't get any baked lighting...
