Game looks amazing. When you guys said you upgraded the combat system so it felt more like you controlled the character, I honestly just thought they'd shuffle faster and you'd just have to hit A everytime you attacked instead of just once. Saw the gameplay vid, and was amazed to see how fluid and responsive the game looks... I see how it works like DAO still, but is as visually impressive as an action game or JRPG. It still plays like DAO, with the commands, but just doesn't look like it was made with the cheap RPG Maker module you guys have been using since the 90s anymore.

I like the visual changes from DAO to DA2, too. Hawke's armor and weapon look amazing, very iconic. DAO looked like a generic fantasy game which could be another D&D like Neverwinter Nights for all you knew from just looking at it. DA2 definitely has a look of it's own which is recognizable and iconic. Very interesting, too. I like the way Hawke looks, whereas everyone wearing the same IRL style platemail suit in DAO was very boring. I like that Hawke looks like a hero instead of some stock extra. The voice acting is great too. The game is very cinematic and immersive, as opposed to interaction feeling limited to some lifeless survey. The emotion options are great too.

Good job, devs. I'm really looking forward to release and love the direction the game is going.

EDIT: nvm

Also, I agree wholeheartedly.
Nice to see someone who isn't throwing a tantrum over change.

yea props to BW, change is good. If DA2 had the same characters and same gameplay that would be no fun.

Love the story dynamic.

Love that they are going to let you interact with your characters without having to pander to their worldview, with the possibility of changing their minds.

Love what they are doing to make mages badass too.

Love the lore possibilities

Nervious about the voice acting and dialogue system though.

But ya..... I think people complain a little too much, and are not even complaining about the things that matter..... (to me at least, I cant put words or thought in the heads of others)

A positive thread about DA2? I think I am hallucinating.

Anyway I like how the game is turning out, while I don't really see that "dragon age art direction" they've been mentioning yet, I'm sure that's more in the polishing stages. A bit worried about the voiced player character, I always felt that a voiceless protagonist was easier to immerse myself in because I could imagine what he/she talked like based on their personality instead of a preset actor. Other than that lovin it.

Thank god! I don't know if I could have handled another whining thread. It's nice to see the people looking forward to this game actually saying so in their own thread. I too greatly look forward to it myself.

I enjoyed DAO alot ,but I wouldn't want DA2 to be like DAO. It's a new adventure with a new character, creating a new experience. If it was like DAO, it would be like playing the Warden.

I did. To almost unhealthy levels might I add.

What's wrong with DA2 trying something new?

Well if you didn't notice the OP contains a lot of bashing against the first DA and so far most of the posts have been "Yeah mans" and "Woohoos".
Now I'm not entirely against the direction DA2 is taking but the general vibe the OP was giving off was that DA:O did everything wrong.

Huh.

Well, looks like for every rabble-rousing DA 2 hater, there's one of these guys who'll sing the games praises for several paragraphs.

DA 2 will sell after all!

+1 to both comments

If people aren't getting mad at what you are doing, you aren't doing it right (though it can obviously be a double edged sword, it could actually suck:lol:).  Change is a natural thing.  If the devs were 100% happy with their previous work and didn't want change the formula at all,  I would worried.

I am about to explode from anticipation really, loved the first one and I think that they will make an awsome story again. Really I can't contribute to the voiced protaginist because I have never played a game where I could choose what to say and hear myself say it. My friend and I (niether of us knew about ME at the time) and Dragon Age had yet to come out and we were discussing Ideas for an RPG and we wanted a voiced protaginist, but to keep the ability to choose our own words, and interestingly enough we also arrived at the conclusion for a conversation wheel with phrases to state intention. Tought it would be cool and I am excited to see it in action.

I played ME a week before playing DAO and after ME everything has changed. It was like my standards had been rised, so to speak.
I needed a voiced character, but Origins's story was good anyway, and now I am glad to see a voiced protagonist again.

There's a difference between enjoying the game and thinking it was perfect, though. There were tons of flaws in DAO I thought, but it's still my favorite game ever because there's enough awesomeness there to outweigh it. They shouldn't stagnate, though. I'm glad they're taking some risks and trying some new things. Most of the changes seem like they'll be for the better.

I don't see much if any DAO bashing in his post. What are you talking about?

I agree that DA wasn't perfect, its just the things the OP ****ed about where all the things I actually liked about DA.

I can't wait to play this game!

I love Bioware's RPGs, and I always have, even as they have gone through changes, and even as they expand beyond the constraints of genre. Some people say they're selling out, or dumbing things down -- I think those people are staid and lack imagination. When Bioware does an RPG they may do things that are out of the ordinary in terms of combat, or dialogue, or what have you. But often times I think those changes make the game more fun, and in the end they always deliver a game with a story, compelling characters that you can interact with and who respond to you, and that allows you to develop the persona you play as you wish. Those are the essences of an RPG to me. Sometimes it seems like a lot of other people just want to play the same game over and over with a different story.

Indeed, I am looking forward to it as well. Especially the dialogue wheel and voiced protagonist.

Actually if anything concerns me at this point it's the silly big sword art style that makes me groan whenever I see it. Could be worse, obviously.
