I honestly didn't like her at first either, but by the end I was and still am head over heels.  Definitely the game's most well developed character.

I found her one of the more rewarding characters to learn about, Leliana and Alistair are easy to get to know whereas people like Morrigan and Sten you need to wear down before they'll let you in. I think she's a very well executed character, she almost looks in at humanity as an outsider.

I hope that in the sequels, DLC, or whatever, we get a chance to kill her(I'm assuming you cannot get her to disapprove so much she leaves or attacks you). I found her sarcasm and snide remarks fun for a while, but what she does (like later in the game dialogs) and how she expects you to act sometimes is maddening.

Maybe it was just -really- bad on my first playthrough because I was a neutral good character and helpful to others, but by the end i wanted to get a chance to try that satisfying decapitation animation on her.

She was a very interesting character by the end of the game. I ran with Leliana this run through, but I made it a point to keep all but a few of my party friendly and at moderately high approval ratings with me still. She starts off hard to like, but if you keep pushing, there's more to her. She and a few other characters are really far more dynamic in the long run than I expect out of games.

Its funny how most people thinks shes a b*tch, when shes really just the way pretty much everyone would be in that setting. If youre perfectly honest, dont you think it would be stupid to take a break from your quest to prevent the end of the world, just to help a village kill a few bears?

And even with that in mind, she gets a lot more interesting the further you explore her story.

I accidentally got her in the sack, which I found very amusing. "I got in Morrigan's Robes and all I got was this lousy Achievement".

:P

The gifts for her seem to be the most common on vendors, necklaces and whatnot, I got up to the adore range and traded her in for Wynne. Morrigan's magic is nice, but she's AI most of the time so either you end up eating a bunch of friendly fire or putting her on debuff and cc duty, which is nice, but less useful than a healer.

Sadly, if you set her to go Spider(etc.) in combat she doesn't so well, at least in my experience.

She was raised by a crazy ass mother (who might not even be her mother) and was taught to distrust most other people. With the kind of upbringing she had, it is no wonder that she acts the way she does. It would be quite unnatural if she acted any different given what you learn about her. She is my favorite character by far.

If you make her like you she does a 180 and becomes a very crappy giggling woman but still has that F-you side and I love her for that!

Morrigan is like Zapp Brannigan.
She appears to be a big pompous buffoon, but inside there's a small naive child, but then you remember outside she's a big pompous buffoon.

You may not like here but you will need here later so keep her with you, if you want Morrigan to like you then you have to be an **** to people and not help the helpless people because Morrigan doesn't care about them.

I made on character who was an ass and had Morrigan with me alll the time but i prefer to be a nice person so i only take her in some tough fights if i'm not a mage ot i'll go with Healer Wynee.

Only reason why Morrigan was not in my team was that she has no compassion to others. Meaning player can't show compassion or will hear something from Morrigan. So, I just left her in camp.

I didn't find a use for her in the party, I usually leave her in the camp as soon as possible. Maybe on the next play through I'll leave her at Flemeth's hut and wait to fill out my party in Lothering. If I'm playing a mage and have Wynne as a healer, there is no role for Morrigan and not having her in the party means I don't have any of the sniping comments whenever I do something altruistic. My ideal party is my Arcane Warrior mage, Wynne as healer mage with Shale and Sten getting up close and personal with the opposition, (note there's no place for a whinging waste of space like Alistair in my party either).

I am a Female Elf Mage.  Is that the reason why Morrigan is such a wench to me?  Everything I do, she disapproves of.

Without spoilers, is there any depth to this character or is she as shallow as she appears?  Her magic is helpful in combat but other than that, I wanna kick her in the face.  <_<

That’s sort of part of her character depth.Okay hear me out, Morrigan believes in social Darwinism or Survival of the Fittest, and because how she was brought up by Flemeth it makes sense. She believed that if people are to weak to do it on there own, than they deserve no pity. The only time this comes as a contrast to anything she does, is when you encounter Sten. She wants you to free him as opposed to her normal attitude of lave him to rot. Than again she strongly disagrees with punishing people for what they are, as will be shown when you go to Redcliff. On that same note she feels anyone who allows them self to be persecuted for what they are and just takes it is not worth living, as you will see in The Tower of Magi.
Over all she is a fairly complex character. The voice actor for Flemeth once said,   “Morrigan is innocent. She is beautiful. She is vulnerable." I think that’s a fair description, she’s vary child like in her understanding of the world and turns to anger and frustration, because of it.
She’s like a child in a womans body, being forced out on her own into a world she doesn’t understand, and being forced to grow the **** up really quick.
I think a lot of her character development comes when you romance her. Because you see her fall in love with the warden and than struggle with what she does latter on.

In some early quests she is a bit clueless on how the world works.  If you talk with her and Alistair in Lothering about how to proceed you'll see.  Her nature upbringing says find enemy and kill it directly.  Her understanding of army's, cities and politics is weak.   She seems to be more tolerant of your plans later.  If you just hate her well can't help you there.  I liked meeting a skimpily dressed evil witch in the woods.  And I also found both she and Flemeth to be mysterious and interesting.

Love her or hate her, you have to admit she's a well written and well executed character. (If she wasn't, no one would be hating her or loving her, they'd just find her bland and uninteresting, which is the middle ground). The fact that she was *designed* to be snarky and cruel, and yet many people ended up loving her (and some hating her), just re-enforces this IMO.

OP is brave to hate Morrigan, and say it on the forums, where the legion of Morrigan cheerleaders are many. I commend your bravery.

She's the best character in the game!

I agree. I personally think she's great and not as hard to please as many people say (I currently have 100 approval with her and haven't really made any choices I didn't want to). Leliana on the other hand, I can't stand her.

She's a coont. I don't even bother with her approval. She mostly stays in camp anyway...
