My friend sent me the daupdater xml, no change with having this document.

So ... the content is in the "Installed Content" tab in-game, but it's not actually showing up in the game itself?

No, it doesn't show up in the installed content at all.

Alright, now we're narrowing down the problem.
The updater is installing fine, but the game isn't picking it up. Smells like a bad install - I'd recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the game, then trying to install the mods again.

Yes, then you are missing it for some reason.

I created dummy project here and uploaded zip which contains copy of DAUpdater.xml:
social.bioware.com/project/1055/#files

Click download link, unzip and save the DAUpdater.xml to data folder and then try running the updater.
