hey.  i was just playing through BG2 and TOB again and im at the end of the game when this problem came up. im fighting melissan and my main character randomly disappears. my current save is when im attacking the last group of mobs on the third outer platform to cut off the power. as soon as the mobs see any of my characters my main vanishes into thin air. he is still displayed in the party list but i can't select him and he's nowhere on the map. even if hes way at the bottom and its one of my other characters who attacks the mobs he still vanishes.

i've played through BG2 several times and never had a problem like this before. has anyone run into something like this? or know how to stop it? the game is patched and my drivers are up to date and all that. the game ran just fine with no bugs up untill this one at the end. i'm somewhat disspointed at not being able to finish so if anyone can offer any suggestions i would sure appreciate it.
