Sorry couldn't type in the text box in the original post on my iPad.
Basically I can't engage in normal attack melée. My character just decides to do a forest gump impression instead! (starts running until you stop him) As a result I haven't play as a melée character yet
Any work arounds as I can't play otherwise. The only class that I can play is a Mage and I have had dragon age since launch!!!!!

I get this about 20% of the time playing a rogue on the xbox. I decided to start again today as most of my dlc is for xbox I only have the original game on pc as I was fed up with the xbox bugs. Anyway having read the patch notes and seeing dex is fixed I thought I'd try a rogue again. It only seems to happen to me when I try to get behind a target to backstab and my character attacks once then wanders off along the same route I was moving her along to get to the backstab.
It doesn't happen every time but enough to be very annoying.

There's two things going on.
One: The radial targeting system on the Xbox is a little screwy. It's not unplayable, but you'll frequently find yourself choosing a target and then your character running off and going after a completely different target. This happens occasionally without the radial wheel up as well. Which leads me to...
Two: Pretty much everyone I know with an Xbox confirms that their Xbox controllers pull to the left a little, once they get older. Or right, but that's much rarer. It may be that when you're attacking a target, your joystick is stuck just far enough to the left for the game to think you're wanting to run off. Try making sure you don't mess with the joystick while attacking and try to keep it centered.
I hope one of those things helps.
