Maker, what have I done?!
But seriously, what will happen on the boat trip to Kirkwall?
Will it just fade to black and you are suddenly in Kirkwall, or will you have intresting conversations with the crew mates of the ship and fights with sea monsters and pirates! (If Thedas has pirates).

Of course it has pirates. Even if you don't see them, there are pirates in Thedas. It's written in stone some where that in each world, there must be pirates. And ninjas. Now if only I could find that pirate ninja, or ninja pirate.

Isabela is the captain of the pirate ship The Siren's Call, and is currently staying in Denerim.

Do you think she is a temporary companion or not?
I mean she is a pirate.
And if she is a full time companion, what happend to her ship and it's crew?

Wareden: "Zevran, not so loud, can't we just...whisper a bit"
Zevran: "But why my dear warden"
Warden: " It's romantic?" *smile*
Great stuff, and yay for people letting you know when they have something to say. My first warden "used up" all her conversations with Alistair after the 3 first major events. It got a bit lonely in the end =) Now I pace myself a bit better.
Ohh...for letters, that can be all sorts of fun. Perhaps romantic letters =) perhaps not so romantic letters when LI nr 2 to finds out about Nr 1? All kinds of fun things can happen.

Could use her ship to travel thedas, if that old DA:2 map is to be believed

So I take it that it's confirmed that the companions will only speak to us when they choose, or in a specific location? Damn it! That was one of the best things in terms of replayability and a natural feeling of companionship. Sure, there were times when you accidently clicked and had conversations in peculiar places, but people are like that. They tend to blurt things out sometimes, especially if they feel strongly, and it made it feel like you were really on quests with people who wanted to talk to you. not people who would practically give you the finger if they were otherwise occupied. The brush offs you get when you click on people drive me absolutely around the bend. And it wasn't like you couldn't reload, if it really wasn't what you wanted. I also liked choosing an appropriate time and place for conversations according to my roleplay. This is very disappointing.Anarya wrote...

Alistair thought the Deep Roads was the perfect place to give me a rose.
Ha ha ha... The first time Alistor talked to my warden about his feelings we were in the chamber with the green gas/fog and the attacking golems. I clicked on him by accident when trying to shut off the gas valve and so all through the dialogue he was getting blasted with the gas. He looked demented
Hahaha oh my god I'm almost sorry this didn't happen to me. I can just imagine.

But... I'm
not a fan of the Awakenings model of moving so many conversations
exclusively to the keep, and in this case it'd be even worse as you'd
have to move around to talk to different followers. Will there be many
conversations you can only have with followers at their home base? Or
will be there some kind of separation between 'safe zones' where you can
talk freely and ones where you can't?
The majority of
the personal dialogue can only take place in their home base-- insofar
as the ones you initiate, anyhow. If you click on the followers
elsewhere they will have comments to make, or a suggestion that you go
somewhere more private (ie. their home base) if they have something they
want to discuss with you. The reasoning for this is primarily
cinematics, to avoid the "talking head syndrome" which is required if
you're able to talk to someone anywhere (meaning that you need a fixed
camera up close, or else the camera could end up clipping inside the
environment or ending up otherwise looking very awkward). This also
allows us to set up situations where you followers are interacting with
each other at their home and other sorts of things... it's kind of
interesting, you'll see.
There's no "click on the environment for
conversation" as in Awakening though, no. We contemplated that for a
while, but I think there were just too many logistical problems with
making that intuitive enough for many people to follow. As it is,
there's still lots of banter and environmental comments-- we might
revisit the environments triggers again, but if we did so I think it'd
need to be something you click and someone in your party talks to you
about it (or at least makes a comment) rather than only one specific person.

Edit: Just reread what you posted. Maybe it won't be so bad. Maybe they will talk, sometimes. He did say 'that you initiate.' Still, they'd have to initiate a fair amount to make it seem less like you're travelling with people who won't give you the time of day--and banter just doesn't cut it in that regard.

But anyway, I heard somewhere that companions armour stay the same now. Do they mean that only their default armour is or not? Or is it like in Mass Effect 2?
And if it the latter, do any of you know if they change their outfits over the ten years?
I mean, no matter how awesome Varric's Coat and Isabela's boots are you need to change your clothes once in a while...

I do hope you know that no self-respecting Englishman would EVER call their mum "mom".
But I must admit it made me laugh.
