Hi folks,  I'm looking for help.
I'm busy slaving away with a module & am getting near the end of 33 odd areas.  Just testing some additions today I've noticed that suddenly 2 exterior house doors in 2 seperate outdoor areas suddenly don't work any more.  I've checked the properties for the doors where they are & the interior doors they're supposed to connect to & the tags all seem correct.  Tried re-baking the areas in case it makes a difference, but still no jot - any ideas?  Have my areas got corrupted somehow?

Any advice gratefully received........:o

Try deleting the doors, placing new ones and resetting the transitions.

Sometimes when you move a building or copy paste it the doors get duplicated, the correct ones remain outside and blank ones are created on the building. So you need to check in your doors list if you have extra ones.

Going forward, make sure you have iterative backups of your module on hand.

What I do is simply RAR the module before I start working on it and append the date and (if necessary) version number to the end of the compressed archive.

Then if anything goes &$^$&( you can just restore from the saved file.

Also you should:

1) make sure turn auto save off

2) always save your module in directory mode until you are ready for release, then make a copy of that module directory and save it as a module for upload to the vault.

Thanks everyone - the above poster was right - the doors seemed to have blown off when I must have caught a couple of the buildings while whizzing around the area with my mouse - all the offending ones are now deleted from the area contents menu, re-drawn & transitions re-reset & all's working fine - mayn thanks for the help & advice - I really didn't realise that so many of you were still around :-)

Also - Mokah - you're absolutely right - although I never had any problems with autosave (but I switched it off almost straight away when I started building, a couple of years ago), but I learnt the hard way that doing everything in directory mode was the only way to build without a crash on almost every save. Don't know why, but my system really doesn't like me building in module mode.

NOW, in the same area, I've noticed that some of my NPC's don't show up when I test a particular area I'm working on, and one NPC's poison dripping sword is now blowing cute little bubbles - not very evil looking all of a sudden! Anyone got any ideas? I'm sure there's an obvious reason somewhere, & hopefully it doesn't involve rebuilding everything in the area!
