I got the quest to get Sten out of his cage and such a while ago. Figured I could do it later, he wasn't going anywhere.
I just finished the whole redcliffe thing, and now Lothering is destroyed by the darkspawn.
Can I not get Sten now?

Sten's a warrior--better for damage than Alistair, but a poorer tank since most of his points are paid into two-handed weapons.

Sten is a Warrior and the only NPC I know of without a specialization. But he has a unique race.

I left Sten to rot because there wasn't any reason to believe that he wasn't the murdering a-hole described (unless I missed an NPC somewhere). I suspected he would be destroyed from the dialogue though and I don't care.

Damn Sten to hell. I shall complete the destruction of the darkspawn without his ass. In fact,  to spite his ass.

I hated Sten too. Then I forced myself to bring him along on my 2nd run for completeness sake. I find that after learning more about him, I don't mind him as much. Still don't like him, but now he is tolerable.

Sten is a d***,



He complains the whole time and he is quick to die. His defense is poor(although a lot of strength), but he starts out with 2 handed weapon skills; so it's already a waste to put a shield on him.

Ya... I was very disappointed with his character. I was expecting a complete bad *** not a whiny lil b****.



Oh well! Good news is, role wise, Oghren serves the SAME purpose as Sten. Besides being a different race, their almost one in the same (I dunno why they didn't give Oghren DW to make him SOMEWHAT diffrent then sten)... the only difference being Oghren is far more likable and is a freakin beserker!



So don't worry, and be happy the dark spawn got him

I just started playing but I eventually decided to tell him to take a "hike" after his poor performance...and he annoys the **** out of me when I try to asked him some questions..anyways. anybody knows where this other characters go if you tell them to leave your camp?

I agree, i couldn't stand Sten. I was also playing as a Lawful Good character, so it didn't make much sense to party with a murderer.

I hate sten, he sucks in combat and he has totally boring out of combat conversation. Having morigan and Alister in your party at the same time is hilarious. I like both of them both much better.

I really enjoyed my first run with Alistair, Morrigan and Wynne, i only used Ohgren to replace Morrigan for a certain quest where Morrigan isn't allowed to come.

I thought he was really annoying at first, but now hes one of my favorite characters.

I think it's because he starts out so cold to the character, and unless you actually bring him along with you he'll never warm up.

Really? I adored Sten, possibly because I brought him everywhere with me and he was quite cool after you get some influence in with him. Hard not to love a big man who bribes people with cookies
