Personally I never bought into the whole concept of biotics, The moment writers introduced that, the game became science fantasy rather than science fiction. Anything is possible in fantasy, so I'm not going to really sweat buying into the concepts or not.

I also subscribe to the Zombo philosophy of science fantasy.

In the future, levo-based amino acids actually repel bullets and seal you against the harsh vacuum of space.

"The moment"?  It wasn't exactly sprung on the player.  It's been part of the ME setting all along.  They at least make an attempt at verisimilitude by explaining biotics.

(See my sig for an explanation of the parathetical in my thread title.)

Do you have a moment in ME that just knocks you completely out of your suspension of disbelief?  If so, what is it?   Even if it's just for a second...

The one that always gets me is when Mordin starts talking about humans being genetically diverse compared to other species.  If that's the case, then other intelligent species from around the galaxy must be nearly inbred.

If you look at human genetic history, there are are one or more severe population bottlenecks that stripped our species of a great deal of genetic diversity.  Even though we outnumber most of the other ape species thousands or millions to one, they're almost all more genetically varied that we are.

(For reference, I don't think that anything to do with the "mass effect" conceit of the setting can count, unless you're talking about something in how it's presented that's internally inconsistent.)

The genetics talk?  The bit of science about genetics of other races?  How about the first 10 minutes?  And every main plot non-sidequest point?

Yes, that meant from the very beginning. I never took mass effect seriously. I enjoyed the game, but that's as far as it goes.

As for explaining it. That's just using BS to explain BS. Why should I take that seriously. Especially when they add a power like reave, which contradicts even the BS they used to explain biotics.

Zaeed comes close but his ears are exposed and human skin is not sufficient to protect you from vacuuum (that arm).

Grunt is acceptable though. All he leaves exposed is his forearms but I can buy that under most circumstances Grunt's scales can handle it.

I think my worst moments in ME2 were everyone jumping up on to the shuttle at once (I'm taking Thane and Grunt with me, Miranda, I do every time), the many mysterious times people just don't seem to recognize Shepard the Savior of the Galaxy (who in their right mind would try going under cover with her? Some Master Thief, Kasumi), the Conrad Verner bug, Miranda's ass shots, and all of the times where what my squad is wearing and the environments they are in don't match up.

And, this one is petty, but...trying to trick me into thinking Jack is male. I noticed your unsubtle and repeated lack of pronouns, writers, I really did. And nothing clues someone into "it's really a girl" then failing to say "he".

It was all a clever ruse for the entire squad to go have pizza without having to bring that pesky crew along. Little did they know how well that ruse was going to work.

I'm just glad I didn't have to write or read her being called SuZe ever again.

I take personal offense at the "there are no blondes in the future" bull****. There have been blondes for at least 30,000 years before now, but in a hundred years they're all gone? Someone needs to revisit high school level biology and mathematics.

Strawberry blonde will be around a very long time, if I have anything to do about it.

And then they tossed the careful illusion out the window when they released Jack's FFTL trailer before the release of the game.  They really messed that one up.

Ah, yes, that one! Damn, do I hate that one. It is one of the most persistent myths out there. There have been dozens and dozens of studies to prove this one wrong, but it sticks.

I'm gonna keep it short for me:

-Forced to work with Cerberus, even after EDI (and therefore all of Cerberus' control over you) is unshackled

-Horizon. Really Bioware, thats the best you could do? I remember in Castaway when Tom Hanks went up to his old girlfriend and said "Its been too long, how have ya been?"

-Liara and the terminal hacking. Although they seemed to admit they screwed the pooch on this in the LOTSB DLC

-Inability at any point in the game to actually kill any squadmate directly (except for Zaeed, but thats a little complicated)

-How the game's beginning went from the Commander suffocating in space, to the game's title screen (which ruined the mood for me by just popping up instead of fading in), to being immediately recovered by Cerberus. I wish they skipped the whole thing where you saw Cerberus recovering your body, because then you know exactly whats going on, even though you're dead.

-Baby human reaper

When you meet Liara, there isn't any real reunion. Its "would you mind doing me some errands? Okay great. Once you're done you can see yourself out. Don't let the door hit you on the way out"

Shepard and Liara comment about this in the scene after you finish off Tela Vasir

The whole reset we get at the start.

Sole Survivors getting to say NOTHING about working for Cerberus (brought up by Vasir in LOTSB)

Baby Reaper.

The Crew Abduction.

Vanguard Charge.

Loyalty Plot Armor!

Paragon/Renegade Jedi Mind Tricks.

Yah I will stop there because there were a lot of points in ME2 that left me wondering.

I hope the guys at BW realized this (they've been told many times before) and in ME3 sometime you get to pay a visit to TIM with Jack & Toombs.

I am in a fight and suddenly the game freezes for 15 to 60 seconds and then I am dead because the enemy shoots me the second the game unfreezes.

All team on shuttle

The worst part of this wasn't that the whole team was on the shuttle, but rather that his plan was to send the whole team on the shuttle... and then send all but 2 of them back once he got there. It's just pointing a big flashing sign at the fact that you can only take two squadmates with you at a time, just because the game says so.

Collector cruiser coming out of the middle of nowhere

It being called a "cruiser" at all when it is obviously dreadnought/carrier sized.

Crew abductuion

How about the magical reaper virus that transmitted the system positions to the collectors... somehow? And also apparently knew that it was HUMANS because otherwise the collector ship would have just blown them the frack up, or completely ignored them.

I also like how the collectors don't bother to strip the IFF out of the ship while they're there. Lol.

Boobs in space

High heels

Yeeees. So bad.

Adding to the list:

- Everything about the Asari.

- Rampant idiocy of Shepard's crew; not having any sort of long term plan to wipe out the collectors even when they thought that it was a whole civilization of people, not just one space station.

- Thermal clips and modern mechs showing up on Jacob's loyalty mission. WHOOPS.

- "We're firing a high powered GARDIAN laser" *cuts to shot of obviously not a laser firing at the ship*

Armor and weapons w/o thermal clip in a med-bay.

The "glowing" facial scar.

Cutscene biotics vs gameplay biotics.

Tali/or all Quarian always one suit puncture from dead, yet getting in combat with no trouble.

Unbreakable glass, even hit it with nuke won't work!

Indestructible cover.

Gunship flying into building or into "structure" with out crush, yeah right.

Shepard: "So I have been dead for 2 years? Really? Okay, move on people."

The plot holes, they are everywhere, EVERYWHERE I TELL YOU.
