I was just thinking about powers and was wondering if it'd be possible to edit available powers for characters?  IE: Having multiple loyalty powers, or removing other powers and adding new ones.  some examples of class alterations I kinda wanna try playing:  (mostly thinking of classes as based on ideas rather than power pool splits)

Soldier
 Adrenaline Rush
  Concussive Shot
 Disruptor Ammo
  Incendiary Ammo
   Cryo Ammo
 Fortification
  Inferno Grenade
 Combat Mastery
 Unity

Infiltrator
 Armor Piercing Ammo
  Warp Ammo
   Shredder Ammo
 Tactical Cloak
  Flashbang Grenade
 Operative
 Unity

Sentinel
 Overload
  Incinerate
   Cryo Blast
 Neural Shock
  Dominate
 Tech Armor
 Defender
 Unity

Engineer
 Energy Drain
  AI Hacking
 Combat Drone
  Geth Shield Boost
 Tech Mastery
 Unity

Adept
 Pull
  Throw
 Warp
  Singularity
 Stasis
 Biotic Mastery
 Unity

Vanguard
 Reave
  Shockwave
 Slam
  Barrier
 Charge
 Assault Mastery
 Unity

*realises that Adept is already that minus shockwave*
Still....those sentinel, vanguard, and infiltrator builds might be kinda fun.  And I always wanted a fully featured soldier...are these possible to edit?

You can only add extra bonus powers; it is impossible to change class powers. Most of your examples are possible though.

well i could always just not put points into something....what tool can i use to do this in?  (infiltrator with those 3 ammos and a flashbang might be kinda radical)

You can mod (bonus) powers using Gibbed's Mass Effect 2 Save Editor. I believe Shepard can have 8 powers in total. You can add two bonus powers without changing class powers. You can also chose to remove one or more class powers and replace them with bonus powers.

Your Infiltrator has to dump Disruptor Ammo, Cryo Ammo, Incinerate and AI Hacking first - you can replace them with AP; Shredder (?), Warp Ammo and Flashbang - you can still add another bonus power.

You can swap class powers for bonus powers by changing wheel display index number 0 to 7 are the ones that fit .
For example my solo adept swaps out shockwave but gets stasis, warp ammo & energy drain in its place.

those are good ideas doc. i like creating more choice within the classes for ME3. itd be interesting and create alot more discusion of classes. your choices for classes are pretty much spot on, tho id like there to be atleast one ammo mod available to each class as well. maybe make disruptor available to sentinels and engineeers, warp ammo for any biotic class, cryo for soldiers hybrids only tho.

i dont know about changing the files on the xbox, but hopefully ME3 already comes this way.

actually maybe I should just make a "custom builds" topic in the classes section or something? It feels like talking about custom powersets should be a really fun topic of discussion. would totally like to hear what people think of my builds actually. I tried to focus powers around tactical ideas that operate parallel with other classes, without the crossover of saying "adept should have shockwave because it's a biotic power and adepts should have every biotic power" Removing what I feel are useless powers to the class and replacing them with combinations of loyalty powers that I think would make for really unique experiences with alot of tactical potential.

testing these out and they are really fun combinations, feel pretty balanced so far. Soldier having so many skills is balanced by limited point distribution.

infiltrator having those specific 3 ammo powers makes combat as one pretty tactical, it actually gives shredder a real purpose, especially since you're on a class that fights at range and has the distance and time to make an ammo centric class setup kinda work. I actually leave them on the shortcut list because of how versatile switching is, outside of that you still have the time dilation on rifle aiming, so having less "offensive" powers still balances out. being able to still have both flashbang and cloak allows for some really good escape and stalling tactics. The lack of disruptor ammo feels like it's offset by the other abilities you'd already have outside of the ammo. If anyone should be built around switching ammo it should be the calm, calculated class. (plus sniper rifles practically mutilate shielded enemies without ammo anyways)

Haven't tried it yet but conceptually I really like this version of the sentinel. totally focused on elemental exploitation....domination and neural shock balance out against eachother pretty well, makes the class more fun to play. I feel like a badass medic with this setup.

Havent tried the rest yet but it feels like engy should be more durable and have more tactical options when facing large groups, energy drain feels like it would naturally combo well with having a shield power ability, and geth shield boost is already decent compensation for their lack of firepower.

Vanguard seems like that specific alotment of skills should make for a really amazing combination to actually make that class more fun to play. having more defensive and offensive options while trading in some of their more useless skills feels like it should be fun to play. Slam being good for pinning an enemy, while reave and barrier feel like an appropriate combination parallel to my engineer build. really can't wait to try this one.

Adept...well you can do that build already and it's a good build. stasis was practically MADE for adept and adept doesn't really get much use out of shockwave because it doesn't combo with their warp.

check out my topic on "classes, whats the point?" i think youll have some interesting ideas to go along with what we have so far.

it seems obviouse to me makeing classes more customizable is the right choice, but theres some that like being limited to just using throw and warp sabotage and cry blast on the sentinel. the sentinel would be the most interesting and well loved class if i could go combine my own two powers from each class.

ME3 needs to be epic and have alot of replayability, and i think allowing for variety in class is one way to do that. thers no variation of adepts in ME2. they are all the same and they all play the same. customizable is the key word bioware should be thinking about with ME3, now that they basically have everything else set from the first two games.

You can't change the default class Powers. No matter what you're stuck with them.

You can, however, add most other powers (bonus and otherwise). Kasumi's cloak and kill being one of the exceptions.

Head on over to the modding thread. It requires a little work on your part with the ini files. But for the most part it's easy if you can follow step by step instructions.
